I have actually wanted to do this one for awhile now. It has been almost two years since one so big was done on here. (That one was very well done by LEEE777) So now I am throwing my choices out there. This was not an easy one to cast. I went back and forth on so many actors, and am still not sure about some of my final choices, but I believe it's pretty solid. I really tried to stick to the visuals from Ross in my casting, but that was really a chore here. I will touch on that later though with Batman.
As for the story, I would not change anything about it. If it has to be a three and a half hour epic with an intermission or broken up into two or three movies, so be it. In my opinion the fans deserve to have the story told properly. As for the director, there are few better story tellers in HOLLYWOOD with the passion for honoring the soucre material like PETER JACKSON. Of course an effects laden project like this would also require the talents of ILM and/or WETA.
Now on to the cast!
This was one of the only easy ones for me. Norman NcCay, a man of conviction, needed an actor to bring that to life. Robert Duvall is in a class of his own.
This one was a little hard. I wanted someone with good body language, but would also look the part of the Spectre's earthly counterpart. So I went with Doug Jones.
One of the hardest to cast, I went through four different actors before making a decision. I wanted someone who would clearly look younger than his human allies and have physical presence about him. Warburton takes a grim, dramatic turn as the Man of Steel here.
I know ...predictable right? Maybe so, but it is only predictable because Lucy is simply the best actress to play this Wonder Woman.
Probably the hardest one to cast on here. Fanboys go nuts if you don't do Batman right. I mean Ross drew him to look like Gregory Peck for Pete's sake! Anyway Peck is not an option for casting(God rest his soul). I thought about Kurt Russell, but he just wasn't Peck. I decided I needed an actor to protray a Batman who is set apart from all those who came before. This Batman is as much spy as he is superhero. Gere is an incredible actor with great depth to his characters.
This was an easy one for me. I love Ed Harris as the cynical, hard ass, Oliver Queen.
We don't see much of Beetle, but I wanted Keaton because he can do the geeky genious pretty well.
Mr Miracle, Scott Free always came off to me as out of place and a little odd, but for this version I wanted an odd but commanding presence in Jay O. Sanders.
BIG BARDA! Joanie "Chyna" Laurer has always been my choice for Barda.
For what we see of Dick Grayson I guess I could of put anyone in this role, but I wanted someone tough. A man who looks like they were raised by someone with the principles of Batman.
Once again, this could be done by any one, or just CGI, but I wanted a face to go with the blur that is the Flash. Hall looks like an older Barry Allen to me.
I just wanted one HUGE man to play this guy! Nathan Jones is HUGE!
I love Heather for this role. We will just have to augment her "Power Plants" in post. If you know what I mean.
We don't hear much from GL, but I wanted someone with an educated and stately presence here, and Grammer oozes those qualities.
I almost put Warburton here, but decided he looked too old. I like Brandon for the role, and apparently so does he.
I wanted a Magog that was pissed off and vengeful, but one that could also be remorseful and repentant.
I know, I know, I know. She's still hot for a mature Catwoman though, isn't she?
Richard Jenkins would own as the seasoned Riddler.
I went with several other actors before coming back to Jeff. My second coice would have been Tom Cruise in make-up similar to his "Les Grossman" character in "Tropic Thunder". After seeing him in that as well as "Collateral" I believe he could be a vicious Lex Luthor.
Well that's it for this one. I may go back and cast alot of the new heroes that we don't really get to know in this book, later on though. Hope you enjoyed, if not, just as well. =)
Don't flame me too bad.
