So, I don't imagine this as a sequel, reboot, or anything of that sort. I imagine these are the people how would have liked to play my favorite X-men if the movies hadn't been made. I have no plot line in mind. I'm certainly not a writer. I enjoy comics and love movies, so I figured it would be fun to imagine a different casting.
Anyway, my cast consists of twenty seven of my favourite x men characters. I realize that some of the actors I chose have been in other comic book movies, but we'll pretend they weren't. And as a rule I've attempted to not use any of the actors who have already played the characters. There were a couple that I kept, but I will explain why.
Also, they are in alphabetical order. So, please don't complain that they aren't in any type of grouping and so forth. Alphabetical. Because that is how I roll.
1. Angel ~ Ryan Gosling
I adore Ryan Gosling. I think he is a wonderful actor. And Angel has always been one of my favourite comic book characters. I think Ryan Gosling is more than capable of portraying Angel. In fact, I think he would do it quite perfectly. He basically embodied the same type of character in Fracture. And he has the looks for the character.
2. Beast ~ Michael C Hall
I just think he looks like he would play a good Beast. I'm sure he'd do a good job talking like a genius and all. And blue would probably look good on him. Didn't he play a smart guy in that Gamer movie? Yeah, he could do it.
3. Bishop ~ Idris Elba
I've clearly seen Idris Elba in many films, just like the rest of you. Most recently I saw him in the Losers. When thinking of Bishop I automatically thought of Idris Elba. He has the right attitude to play Bishop convincingly.
4. Cable ~ Dolph Lundgren
Dolph Lundgren due to the physical resemblance. Not very exciting.
5. Colossus ~ Jared Padalecki
I'm concerned I might be berated for this one. I don't like the idea of including actors who have such a huge cult following. They're always identified as that role they got famous with. In this case that would be Sam Winchester from Supernatural. Which....If altered properly, the characteristics can work for Colossus. I think Padalecki is a good actor, he may not have proven it at this point, but I think he has the capability to play Colossus. He's also a pretty big dude. I think he's like six and a half feet tall or something. Big dude. Change his hair, and even his facial shape works out.
6. Cyclops ~ Chris Pine
Cyclops is hard to cast. Well, maybe it's personal bias. I've never been particularly fond of Cyclops. A little too...wholesome for my liking. Well, wholesome might not be the word I'm looking for, but I'm sure you catch my drift. I find that actors who have a physical likeness of Cyclops just don't have a leading quality. Chris Pine doesn't look exactly like Cyclops, but I definitely think he could pull it off. And his proven he can lead a cast already. He's charismatic, so he might make Cyclops a lot more likable. Well, for me anyway.
7. Dazzler ~ Dianna Agron
Why include Dazzler you might ask? Well, as a kid my uncle always drew me pictures of her. So, I've always had a soft spot for her. Obviously I picked Dianna Agron with the musical elements in mind. She can certainly carry a tune, which is important for the character, as I am sure you know.
8. Deadpool ~ Ryan Reynolds
Oh my. Yes, I kept him the same. I just can't imagine anybody else in that part. And maybe that's a problem with my brain. But, gee whiz, I loved watching Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.
9. Emma Frost ~ Kate Bosworth
I really hate that January Jones got this part. She's annoying. And not pale enough. Again, probably just a bias. Anyway, I think of Kate Bosworth as Emma Frost right away.
10. Gambit - Gaspard Ulliel
I love Gambit. He amuses me. I hated the guy who's name I can never remember who played him in Wolverine. I can't stand looking at his face. Gaspard Ulliel has a likeness to the character and I think he would do an excellent job playing the New Orleans native. He's get the accent without a problem. Not like that other guy.
11. Iceman ~ Matthew Goode
Okay. So this isn't really based on physical appearance. Which is clear. However, I think Matthew Goode is charming and clever and witty. Everything Bobby is. It's a perfect fit based on personality. Appearances can be altered.
12. Jean Grey ~ Bryce Dallas Howard
I won't be surprised if this one doesn't get the popular vote. And I understand. This one is totally based on personal bias. I disliked how Jean Grey was portrayed in the movies. Not that I didn't think it was accurate. I just...I don't know. I like the potential of Jean Grey's character and sometimes I'm happy on how it's fleshed out. But for the most part I find her to be rather boring. Famke Janssen didn't help. She's decent looking...But meh. I adore Bryce Dallas Howard, and I think she would make the character different. I think it would be interesting to see what she does with it since she is such a fabulous actress.
13. Jubilee ~ Liu Yi Fei
I'm not going to lie, I had no clue who this Liu Yi Fei girl is. I looked up Chinese actresses and she was on the list. Apparently she does a lot of period work... I figured she was cute. And Jubilee is cute. And young. So, it's a winner.
14. Kitty Pryde ~ Emily Browning
I've seen so many Gossip Girl Kitty Prydes. I don't even know the girl's name. But really? That disappoints me. Emily Browning is gorgeous and so amazing at acting. Especially for her age. She would be so good as Kitty. So good!
15. Magneto ~ Jeff Bridges
I shouldn't have to explain this one.
16. Marrow ~ Rosario Dawson
There is definitely a lack of physical resemblance here. However, I'm sure most people won't mind. It is Rosario Dawson. Why I picked her... I saw Rosario Dawson in a movie called Descent. The movie wasn't that great, but her acting really was. She played a rape victim. So naturally she has a lot of bitterness and dislike for the human species. Her performance stuck with me. So, Marrow being a character who has a lot of bitterness built up and dislike for humankind and so forth, I thought of Rosario Dawson in Descent.
17. Mr Sinister ~ Javier Bardem
Again, physical resemblance isn't necessarily there. BUT Javier Bardem would make a better Sinister than anybody that does look like him.
18. Mystique ~ Olivia Wilde
So, admittedly, she should probably be a little older. BUT Olivia Wilde is gorgeous and super vixen-like. And let's face it, the body matters. And she's got it. I'm sure somebody will mention someone better and I'll be like "duh, shoulda thought of that one." Feel free.
19. Nightcrawler ~ Alex O'Loughlin
Decent actor. And a physical likeness. Not incredibly well known but still sorta recognizable.
20. Pixie ~ Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Again, another one that I just really liked from childhood. She has pink hair, darn it. Well, we saw with Scott Pilgrim vs the World that she looks pretty smokin' with pink hair. And for Pixie it's very important that whomever plays her has the right shape of eyes, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead has cool eyes. She's adorable. Very Pixie-like.
21. Polaris ~ Odette Yustman
Not many girls would look good with green hair, but I think Odette would. And, uh, yeah.
22. Professor X ~ Patrick Stewart
The second one I kept the same. I mean, I could have picked somebody else I suppose. Some other people chose some decent actors...But it's just not the same.
23. Psylocke ~ Maggie Q
Maggie Q is great in the new Nikita. She plays the part of the strong female very very well.
24. Rogue ~ Kelly Brook
Rogue was the most difficult to cast. I really really love Anna Paquin, but, for me, she really really did not fit the part. Rogue is a sweet southern belle, yes. But she's a babe too. Like, a major babe. It's hard to find a sweet hot girl. It really is. I'm not even completely happy with this one, but I think she works. She's relatively unknown, having done some pretty crummy movies. But there's hope for her yet. And she's pretty.
25. Scarlet Witch ~ Lynn Collins
Lynn Collins was Kayla Silverfox in X-Men Origins : Wolverine, so she's proven herself worthy of a comic book movie role. So worthy, I think, that she deserves a more significant role. As far as appearance goes, she's a great choice for Scarlet Witch.
26. Storm ~ Kandyse McClure
Storm is another hard one. The popular choice is obviously Zoe Saldana. She has the proper figure and the height. But I think she's too light skinned and also too young. (Yes, I know she's 31, but she does not look it.) Halle Berry was an awful Storm. (Hate me for saying that, I don't mind.) BUT it is tremendously difficult to find an actress with the right build and skin tone to play Storm. So, unless a model chose to try her hand at acting, you're not going to have a perfect Storm. I don't know much about Kandyse McClure, I'm pretty sure she's from Stargate....Or something.
27. Wolverine ~ Sam Worthington
Hugh Jackman was fantastic as Wolverine. I think Sam Worthington would actually do the exact same thing with the character. I guess Australians are good at playing angry mutant Canadians.
