Conceptual illustrator, Carlos Huante, created character designs for Tim Story's Fantastic Four (2005) and Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). Carlos came up with some dramatically different designs for Juggernaut (Vinnie Jones), Dr. Henry "Hank" McCoy/Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Doctor Doom (Julian McMahon), and The Thing (Michael Chiklis).

2005(except Batman Begins & Sin City) & 2006 were a BAD year for CBMs. Don't even get me started about 2007.

I'll give credit to Fox's FF....at least they looked like the source material. Those Dr. Doom's remind me of Deadpool from XMen Origins

@scabs

because most actors refuse to spend that much time on film with the majority or all of their faces covered.

I still hate -- hate, hate, hate -- what they did with Doom in the FF flicks. A human lightning rod? Bitch, please! It's Dr. Doom!

Too bad they didn't go with that other Juggie design of XM:TLS. The one they went with...no. That's not Juggernaut. I don't know what the hell that is.

I love the picture of Juggernaut standing next to Wolverine with him looking like a gigantic white Steve Urkel with the raised up pants it gave me a good laugh. Most of these looked atrocious and I am real glad they didn't go with those designs. The only one I kinda liked was the last Thing one since it game him a bulkier look which the Thing is really bulky.

So they got the Juggernaut look right the first time then gradually worked their way too ruining him? [frick] X3.

Dr. Doom in the FF movies was so not Dr. Doom, I'm not going to call him that. From this day forth, he shall be known as Pussy McManChild.

If Juggernaut had looked like the first concept drawing instead of that gay helmet thing, it might have made him look a little closer to the comics. But, bad is bad. I don't mind the look of Dr. Doom in the movies, the Thing needs a bit of a redo, but other than that, it's the actual script that needs work.

juggernaut was always going to be difficult to adapt for film, at least they had a stab at it.
And beast came out pretty well.

I liked the Beast, the concept was even better though. Juggs should have/ could have been better, and I don't think we'll see a good Doom until it reverts back to MARVEL...

They have got to really get over this fear of not showing the actors face. The comic book characters wear a mask. Stop trying to show their face. The audience will accept it. The X-men series really needs to push past this "clothes that mimic costumes".

That juggernaut concept is so horrible. Beast came out well in the film. Kinda wish Juggernaut would've look more like his comicbook counterpart. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 probably had the best approach to his costume. None the less he was still one of the highlights of the Last Stand

OMG, haven't these artists ever opened a comic book these drawing boards hideous, with the one exception of the first Juggernaut. No wonder Fox had no clue, the guys drawing the storyboard's had no clue.

Well, I hope they've learned their lesson now they have a real comic book roots kind of guy running the show.

Honestly, they should give back the Fantastic Four solely on principle and how badly they screwed that up. Wishful thinking

What is wrong with the G##damn look of these characters to begin with? I understand you have to change it a little but, for real, these go way to far! Juggy pisses me off the most! What the hell, is that Astronaut Juggernaut, Bucket head Juggernaut and Gladiator Juggernaut?

Juggernaut looks more like the comics. Isn't that a good thing?

I wish they'd stop trying to feminize Dr. Doom. Dr Doom is not effeminate.

The Beast concept art is awesome! I wish they would've gone with that fourth Juggernaut design instead.

That is so much better than the Juggernaut we got.
EarOne
EarOne - 2/10/2013, 2:59 AM
one of the Juggernaut concept looks looks like TLOR's uruk-hai.

and i kinda like one of the Doom concepts.

The Thing WOULD look cool if realized as a CG creation and NOT the body suit/makeup.

Beast...well..as awesome as those artworks look, that hair style just won't work in live action. even Wolverine's do in the first three x-men flicks now look ridiculous.

For concept art they are very cool, regardless of their accuracy. People that say they are terrible have no business on this site or liking comic books in general, as they are all artwork. Not to mention that none of you [frick]ing dipshit haters could even draw anything remotely this good lol. Put a sock in it. Please. Some of you are [frick]ing embarassing.

Why do they hire these dumb european artists who have these dramatic ideas instead of an established Marvel one. It's simple, go down through the history of the character, look at every costume they've worn and find one that works on the big screen, instead u get that half assed open can opener look we got for Juggs, blech

Pooh - 2/10/2013, 10:39 AM
I enjoyed the first Fantastic Four movie. Great director. Great music. I just wish they'd stop trying to feminize Dr. Doom.

When I think of what a dud X3 was I think of the juggernaut costume.
