Netflix Officially Confirms BRIGHT Sequel With An Announcement Video

Following initial reports, Netflix has announced a sequel to its fantasy sci-fi drama, Bright. The question now is what will they name it? Bright 2? Brighter? Bad Boys in Mordor? The options are endless!

Netflix released a video today officially confirming its fantasy drama Bright will indeed be getting a sequel.

The announcement follows a Bloomberg report that claimed Netflix had already ordered a follow-up even before Bright debuted on the streaming service, with Will Smith signed on. There was no mention here if Smith will reprise his role in the sequel, but it appears Netflix has bigger things to worry about: like what to name the follow-up.

The announcement was made via a mock "leaked" tape of Orc auditions, and offers some potential titles for the Bright sequel. Check it out below.

Bright hasn't exactly been a critical darling, registering just a 28% on Rotten Tomatoes; however, it has received a more welcomed reception from actual Netflix subscribers, which is really all that matters.

Bright was Netflix's first attempt at a blockbuster production, with hopes of upending the movie business as the company did with television. While reviewers didn't necessarily love it, Bright did attract 11 million viewers on its opening weekend in the United States alone.

Are you excited for a Bright sequel?

@LordZero - Will Smith shouldn't have been the cop, the character was practically Will Smith being played by Will Smith

@SpaceBeyonder - do you know him personally?? Just curious how you can make a statement like that without having spent any part of your life in his presence. The character was similar to other characters of that type of role played by many actors but it surely did not remind me of a lot roles that Will Smith has played, if that what you were referring to.

@LordZero - I never saw orcs as black people. In most literature, movies, and video games - orcs are pretty much bad. Most of the orcs in the movie were weren't good at all.

@IronGenesis - I am not sure they can kill films franchises you do have to pay for...

@Forthas - I had RT scores kill my interest in several films. I’m not proud of it but theE were fringe films of interest for me and I succumbed to RT.

No more of that in 2018.

@IronGenesis - WOW...aren't there films you like that the general audience does not like?

Is David Ayer directing...and are they spending $90 million?

@Forthas - Max Landis isn't returning we know that. Script was a weak point so hopefully it improves.

This should be a tv show and not a movie.

@BlackBeltJones -

But if it is a gritty cop drama...don't you need the freedom to make it as realistic as possible or did that not translate well...

@Forthas - idk. It's a fine movie. Not awful. Given a better screenwriter I think Ayer couldve did better. My only gripe is the heavy handed metaphors.

Hopefully the sequel has better writing. I think it'd be an interesting tv show. The concepts would benefit from longform storytelling imo. The world would fit a serialized atmosphere well.

Clickbait title much.

As for the heavy handed metaphors. Many folks need to be hit over the head.

The concept of the movie was very cool and great but the execution could have been better... a whole much better...just get rid of Ayer and please stop making Will Smith star as Will Smith
