"Every warrior has a beginning..."
As the MTV Movie & TV Awards come to a close, Henry Golding (Last Christmas; The Gentlemen) has finally dropped the official teaser trailer for Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, featuring one minute of non-stop action as the fan-favorite ninja commando picks up his trademark sword, Morning Light, and proceeds to kick all kinds of ass.
Along with the trailer, Paramount has shared an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette, offering up even more never-before-seen footage from the Robert Schwentke-directed film.
While plot details have mostly been kept under wraps, the action-adventure will tell the untold origin story of the most mysterious member of G.I. Joe and how he became the legendary hero fans know and love. A number of major details about his past will be revealed, none bigger than his real name.
In addition to Golding, the supporting cast features Andrew Koji (Fast & Furious 6; Bullet Train) as Storm Shadow, Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist; Snatch) as Baroness, Samara Weaving (The Babysitter; Ready or Not) as Scarlett, Haruka Abe (47 Ronin; Cruella) as Akiko, Takehiro Hira (Lost Girls & Love Hotels; Giri/Haji) as Kenta, Peter Mensah (The Incredible Hulk; Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Blind Master, and Iko Uwais (The Raid: Redemption; The Raid 2) as Hard Master.
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins opens in theaters on July 23, and is then expected to debut on Paramount+ after a 45-day exclusive theatrical window.
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins stars Henry Golding as Snake Eyes, a tenacious loner who is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage after saving the life of their heir apparent. Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teach Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honor and allegiance will be tested – even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him. Based on the iconic G.I. Joe character, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins also stars Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow, Úrsula Corberó as The Baroness, Samara Weaving as Scarlett, Haruka Abe as Akiko, Tahehiro Hira as Kenta and Iko Uwais as Hard Master.
