We all know that an upcoming episode of Arrow is titled “Birds of Prey”and will feature the Huntress and Black Canary side by side for the first time on screen since the failed WB Bird’s of Prey. Here are the first sneak peaks from the Arrow production team:
But what about Oliver’s rekindled relationship with Sara?
Arrow’s executive producer Marc Guggenheim tweeted the following:
We all know that Oliver will end up with LAUREL Lance and sadly not Sara Lance. Thus, its safe to say this is from a dialogue between Ollie and Laurel, meaning Sara and Oliver are just a temporary flame. This leaves the door for Nyssa to come back and swoop in.
Nyssa’s role on Arrow is much greater than we have been told.
In the episode “Heir to the Demon", Nyssa’s passport had been flagged by ARGUS, which seems to indicate that the government is fully aware of the League of Assassins and that their activities have been a threat to national security (Terrorists?). This could be setting up for the League of Assassin's to become the villains of Season 3.
At the end of the episode, Nyssa goes into a deep reflection of her father’s values and how it has cost her her relationship with her “beloved” Sara, after Sara could not take the killing. Nyssa even sheds a tear as she releases Sara from the league. Considering we’ve already been told that Katrina Law returns after the 18th episode of this season, it is not impossible for Nyssa to follow the route of her comic book counterpart and cut ties with her father, and come back to Starling City. Nyssa probably does not know a lot people outside of the league, thus the natural thing for her to do is return to Sara and begin a new “non-killing” path.
Let’s hear from Caity Lotz (Sara) herself on how she was approached for the role: (Here is a transcript from her Interview with LA times)
There's an upcoming episode called "Birds of Prey," like the DC Comic featuring Black Canary and Huntress. So we're going to see Black Canary and Huntress team up?
Lotz: Um ... you're definitely going to see the two. You'll see them together, that's for sure. And they'll have some interaction. But you'll have to see what that is. We actually haven't shot it yet. But we will, very soon. I haven't met Jessica [De Gouw, who plays Huntress], but everyone says she's an awesome girl.
When you got the role, did you do a deep-dive into comics history?
Lotz: Oh yeah, DC sent me a bunch of "Green Arrow" and "Black Canary" comics, and also "Birds of Prey" comics. I checked those out and gleaned what she was all about. I didn't put pressure on myself to know the whole history of the character, but I did want to understand her emotional history. I did want to make sure I represented her strength. I didn't want to be a fake superhero, a girl who's not tough but she's still running around with her staff. I really wanted her to be strong. That was the thing I wanted to capture: strong and capable.
What if GOTHAM is part of the DCCU?
Stephen Amell was one of the first people to congratulate Ben Mckenzie on his new role as Gotham’s Jim Gordon. He didn’t
just congratulate him, he
welcomed Mckenzie to the DCU. Hmmm...
So if they are all part of one universe, could we see the Bird’s Of Prey form a nest in a Gotham without Batman? Someone has to fight the Penguin... right?. Personally I’d rather have the Arrow and Flash remain separate from Gotham, and have the Bird’s Of Prey remain in the Arrow universe or perhaps... Bludhaven.
With the overwhelmingly positive reception of Caity Lotz's Black Canary and Katrina Law's Nyssa al Ghul, are the Arrow producers up to something bigger? Take a look at all the clues gathered in this article and judge for yourself in the comments below.
