After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he's become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel's father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver's own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.

The series stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.

Looking forward to this show, glad they're not camping it up like they did with the failed Wonder Woman series and Smallville.

"We need to go Dark Knightish." Is that a new word in the dictionary or something? Not everything needs to be like that. I'm looking at you, Amazing Spider-Man.

sigh... as soon as he said go dark knightish, i stopped watching. It's bad enough this soundtrack harkens so freely to the musical score of the Dark Knight, they want to create a poor man version of Dark Knight with GA.

A shit load of comic book films are going to be destroyed because of the Nolanverse Batman films. Dark and Gritty work for Batman because that's who he is the moment you start putting that in to every character is when it turns to shit.

This is were WB is going to mess up with all there films from now on, try to follow Batman and see what happens.

About 6 different references of comparisons to The Dark Knight, Nolan, Zimmer (etc) in this clip. Nolan got all these jive turkeys playing catch-up. lol

Wait, did Mark Guggenheim, a script-writer, just tell us he doesn't have a large vocabulary? Uhhhhh.....

But other than that this looks so promising. I love hearing Arrow, Dark Knight, and Man of Steel all mentioned in the same sentence.

The music sounded very Hans Zimmer like which in my book can only be a good thing because his batman soundtracks are awesome.

Have a feeling this shows gonna be great.

So this guy is trying to avoid making the music for Arrow campy. Why bother? Take one look at the ridiculous outfit the title character is wearing and try telling me that that is NOT camp. A green hoodie with generous amounts of green paint or makeup smeared on the face? If that isn't camp, what is? How am I supposed to take that seriously? I'll take the campy costumes of the '70s over this garbage. At least those guys TRIED to get it right.

Grif: 'Nuff said.

BlackFlash: Some excellent observations.

We don't need anything being dark and edgy,WB.......WB and DC are truly the same: "go dark! Go dark!" "batman is like a God!"

I saw an ad on our CW station for Arrow, and he had some kind of green paint or makeup on his face. I freeze-framed it to make sure I was seeing it right.
