Britt Reid is the son of LA’s most prominent and respected media magnate and perfectly happy to maintain a directionless existence on the party scene – until his father mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his vast media empire. Striking an unlikely friendship with one of his father’s more industrious and inventive employees, Kato, they see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their lives: fight crime. But in order to do this, they decide to become criminals themselves – protecting the law by breaking it, Britt becomes the vigilante The Green Hornet as he and Kato hit the streets. Using all his ingenuity and skill, Kato builds the ultimate in advanced retro weaponry, The Black Beauty, an indestructible car equal parts firepower and horsepower. Rolling in a mobile fortress on wheels and striking the bad guys with Kato’s clever gadgets, The Green Hornet and Kato quickly start making a name for themselves, and with the help of Britt’s new secretary, Lenore Case, they begin hunting down the man who controls LA’s gritty underworld: Benjamin Chudnofsky. But Chudnofsky has plans of his own: to swat down The Green Hornet once and for all.

Yeah I'm trying to get into it too. Like I said before, I would have love to see Timothy Olyphant play the Green Hornet, with a more serious tone to it.

You guys really need to watch other Michel Gondry films, "The Science of Sleep" being my personal favorite. The guy he is a genius, his story-telling skills are frankly amazing, and I can't wait to see "Kato-Vision", which I'm pretty sure will be a visual treat.

This is what I think of Seth Rogen's COMEDY 'Green Hornet':

Self Censorship

...and Michel Gondry can go suck a big one for turning this bad-@ssed superhero into Rogen's latest joke!

@loganoneil- I doubt the WHOLE movie is going to be a comedy. More often than not, movie studios release trailers that focus more on comedy than action to get the parents' and kids' butts into the theater seats. This movie probably doesn't have any more comedy in it than say Iron Man or Green Lantern. Green Lantern's trailer was mostly comedy, but I guarantee the majority of the film plays just as serious as any other CBM that takes itself seriously. Hell, even Nolan's Batman films have SOME comedy in them. Btw, what's your beef with Rogen anyway? If you don't mind my asking. Can't you just give the guy a chance and let him stretch as an actor? I can understand if you don't want to see the movie based on the trailers you've seen, but why must you come onto every Green Hornet article and talk shit? I feel like the only time I ever see you on here any more is on these threads just to hate. Your getting as bad as the Smallville haters. It's just my observation. Do you ever go on any articles about stuff you do like?

Matches/Thor - I dislike the idea of perverting the original concept of a superhero like Green Hornet ('YES', he IS a superhero) and turning it into a 'Starsky & Hutch'-style comedy. How would uber-fans feel if they found out Joel Schumacher was to direct the next Superman film and he said it was going to be a comedy starring Jim Carrey as Kal-El? Just because the Hornet isn't as 'popular' as Krypton's Last Son doesn't mean he deserves the 'bargain basement' treatment! The point is that the film shouldn't be funny AT ALL! The ORIGINAL GH was a bad-@ssed mo-fo (much in the vein of the comic book / Nolan Batman). Even in the TV show (which was a serious drama), while BRUCE LEE'S Kato (not Jackie Chan - get your people straight Thor) did do a majority of the @ss-kicking, Van Williams' Britt Reid didn't just sit idly by (Did you even WATCH the series?!).

Matches, I do not just come "...onto every Green Hornet article and talk shit." There are other articles on this site that I have contributed (quite) POSITIVELY to. Apparently YOU'RE the one who's focusing on the negative here! Remember, this is a PUBLIC forum. I'm allowed to express my OPINION, just as you are. If you've got a problem with it, that's exactly it - IT'S YOUR PROBLEM.

...and guys, I'm NOT the only one on this site who feels this way about the film. Just because you get together and circle-jerk yourselves into a frenzy over it doesn't necessarily mean you're in the majority here.

@loganoneil- Whoa, easy there. I wasn't trying to pick a fight. I just happen to frequent most of the Green Hornet articles and always see you poo-pooing this movie. I just really don't think this movie is going to be a "Starsky & Hutch" style comedy. I'm pretty sure the comedy is showcased in the trailer much as the Green Lantern trailer, but the majority of the film will be taken pretty seriously. I highly doubt Seth Rogen would have lost all that weight just to make the Green Hornet a big joke. In the trailer he talks about living up to his potential and making good on his father's ideals. That sounds like some pretty dramatic themes to me. Most dramatic movies have to have some kind of comic relief to balance all of the heavy stuff. Btw, I respect your opinion and have no problem with you personally. I don't mean to come off as dickish in any way, but you still haven't answered my question about why you don't like Rogen. No hard feelings, mate. Just trying to have a discussion about the movie. I too am a big Green Hornet fan and this movie seems to be pretty divided amongst fans. I'm really hoping the action outweighs any kind of comedy, but I'm okay with a few jokes here and there. I really want to see a "bad-@ssed mo-fo" as well, and I think we will probably see some pretty good ass-kickery in this flick. I promise if I see it before you, I'll let you know if it lives up to what a superhero (you are definitely correct that he is) like Green Hornet should be.

@Matches:
I'm sure logan don't ONLY go to Rogen's Hornet thread to bash it. He goes to other thread to bash them as well. LMFAO!

Naaah, just joking. We bash movies we hate and we praise the ones we love, that's life.

Actually, I go to each and every thread of X-Men First Arse (well, almost all) just to bash it and hate it. I know I don't have to. If I hate it, don't come there and read the article, right? Yeah, but I still go there anyway to bash it. I don't know. Maybe because I'm so overly angry about how Fox treated XMO: Wolverine that I feel the need for a revenge that I want to bash First Arse at every possible opportunity.

@logan:
I have faith that this will not be Rogen's latest joke. I like Seth Rogen. I hate Observe and Report because of the script, not because of Rogen. His other films, I like. And I'm looking forward to Green Hornet.

Matches - I don't want a fight either. I've been a GH fan since I was a little Hornet (not to mention I'm a Bruce Lee fan as well), so I've got a personal interest in this film. I HOPE you are right and that Rogen and company DO take the source material seriously, but from what I've seen (Michael Bay-esque explosions aside), I don't think it looks good. Maybe the 'Starsky & Hutch' comparison was a bit harsh. The movies I think would be a more appropriate comparison would be the Schumacher Batman films (and we ALL know how well those went over!). You more than likely WILL see the film before I will, so I welcome and look forward to your review of it. I'll more than likely be reading it (and all the others on this site) before I decide if I really want to invest my money in this.

Orphrepus - LMFAO! Yup, you nailed it - I hate everything!

"Harumph! Harumph! Harumph!"
"I didn't get a 'Harumph!' outta' that guy!"
"Give the Governor a 'Harumph'!"
"Harumph!"
"You watch your @ss..."

..and you don't HAVE to justify yourself in hating 'First Arse'... it's FOX, for christ sake! You KNOW they're just going to SCREW UP the franchise even more! The REAL question is how FAR can the push it?

The Green Hornet has been around before Batman or Superman and has had 2 theatrical movie serials before the sixties T.V. show. He's the nephew to the Lone Ranger. Hornet also had a long running radio show. My point being, the tv show is not an original anything but a famous incarnation. This movie should have been treated as seriously as the Batman movies. Bruce Lee was undoubtedly awesome but pay attention to Van Williams as the Green Hornet, Very cool and very smart. the tv show lasted one season with a guess shot on Batman for two episode (Not recommending to watch the two parter).

Geez...some of you guys take these movie adaptations so frickin seriously! Come on! they are movies about COMIC book characters! The beauty is in the interpretation...the DIFFERENT interpretations! If bats or supes or any of them never changed or evolved or had different writers or artists, do you really think they would be as popular?
We are dealing with a FLUID genre here...
Hell...I even liked Airbender...not the acting and the effects left me wanting more, but it's a hell of a story and it was an interpretation... a good start at least in what NOT to do for the next one.

I really just don't care about this movie. I try to get excited for it, but I can't. I feel like this is a rental at best.
