The character of Green Lantern hasn't had much success on the big screen with the failed 2011 film and no further plans ahead for the future of this character. Much ado to that many fans have given hope for a future of the character. The mythology of Green Lantern and what surrounds the basis of the plot is complicated for many people to understand as it would need to be simplified for a general audience. DC is on the hand where they have more ethically diverged heroes than Marvel playing more into a realm of heavy realism fiction. There are over several Green Lanterns, different rings, and so many complex storylines that needs development What the 2011 film tried to do was to simply all of it down but it in a manner the fans didn't appreciate. There is still a way around to make this character a true DC character. A memorable character with really fun and witty lines. Something that everyone would enjoy. Here is my idea on how to do so to make Green Lantern into a more generalized film.

1. Take The Setting of The Story on Earth Not in Space
- The whole entire idea of bringing the setting into space didn't work at all. Even though the beginning of Man of Steel was set in space you still had a feeling it was somewhat like Earth the planet Krypton. You need to have an environment people would easily be able to relate to when having a challenging story of the struggles of a superhero wanting to save humanity. How do you save humanity when you are not there to defend Earth. The whole idea of the Green Lantern corps could easily be set up on Earth. There is no need for space, it just makes it more complicated and less grounded in reality.

2. Turning The Green Lantern Corps into a Cult of People
- To make the film more grounded on Earth and in reality of today, the Green Lantern Corps would need a major change. No more alien creatures or magical rings. Throw that out the window because that is not reality. The true reality is, The Green Lantern Corps is an underground cult of people. People who wear green robes with a hood and enchant themselves with ancient rituals believing in the legacy of defending Earth from the evil people. The evil people who would stop at nothing to destroy them for what they have made and caused. That is the reality the Green Lantern Corps should be presented as. Oa is now the name of an abandoned chemical warehouse company “Oa Chemicals” which serves as their secret hideout. Members are randomly selected and recruited. If this happens this could be the real Fight Club of DC movies. More dark and grim centred within true reality.

3. No More Superpowers, Just Pure Hand to Hand Combat
- The Green Lantern Rings are an untimely weakness and forced strength input. What we need to see is pure hand to hand combat. I am talking about something along the lines of the film “The Raid”. Brutal one on one fights including high speed action packed scenes. They fight with pipes or staffs and anything they can find. The action needs to pure Rated R style no holds barred.

4. Making Sinestro The Real Danger, A True Grounded Villain
- Within change it is important to keep the villains itself. The one important villain that needs to stay is Sinestro. Since my idea is relevantly grounded on Earth, why not make Sinestro a drug dealer? Ever wonder how Sinestro got so purple, well he made this stuff in a lab and he inhaled it so much it made him that colour. Now he likes the colour purple and hates other colours especially green. It makes it more in tune with reality involving race. As Hitler wanted to conquer the world with his ideal supreme race in mind the character of Sinestro would be given similar goals. Goals that soon come in conflict with the Green Lantern Corps to stop.

5. Hal Jordon Needs to be a Insane
- The Green Lantern Corps recruits Hal Jordon from an insane asylum. Hal Jordon is a loner which makes him extremely reliable and he has no friends. They can easily manipulate him and his mind. That is a great reason why the character could be a assist. The whole idea of Hal Jordon being some pilot was extremely off the mark. It was way too complex for people to understand. Insane people are easier to understand. They have sad backgrounds which makes you root more for the character themselves. Making Hal Jordon insane is simple. He could have simply gotten himself in by trying to eat a VHS tape or something.

6. Making The Green Lantern Corps and Members The Ultimate Anti Heroes
- Nobody knows if they are good or bad. They often do evil things. Sometimes even the public hates them. They would be a mystery in every sense and way possible.

7. Zombie Apocalypse
- Who else could they fight other than Sinestro? How about a full scaled zombie apocalypse. With zombies becoming more and more popular in media it's about time they enter in the world of comic book styled genres. Maybe Lex Luthor get's superpowers and these superpowers cause people to turn into mindless zombies. Then Batman becomes a zombie and he eats Superman (Superman later comes back with the power of the sun) and all this crazy stuff happens. Well take my idea into consideration.

8. Dubstep Music
- With Dubstep music becoming more and more mainstream today it's time they were fully introduced in comic book films. A full on heavy dubstep soundtrack throughout the film would be perfect. Those quiet moments you always hate now get louder and louder. Those exciting moments now get more intense with dubstep music. This genre of music has the power to move people. It has the power to change people. It could make the tone of the movie better. Everyone likes dubstep so it's a perfect match.

I believe these points I have made depend on the success for another Green Lantern film to happen. Thank you for reading and as always comment!

Everything but dubstep still sounds ten times better than the original Green Lantern.

I watched the extended green lantern and i have to say that despite being a disappointing movie, it was pretty damn faithful. (apart from parallax) They got the tone right (it reminded me of secret origin) they just need to see where they went wrong.

@MAC Yeah I agree with that, having it be a mystical force type thing would be a huge disconnect from the tone they've set with Man Of Steel.

@martianabominationclone - How is Hal Jordan a good character. he´s the weakest JL member. I mean it. MMH, WW, Superman, Batman and Flash all have much much better origin stories, powers, archenemies. Just everything about Hal is really basic and stupid. A ring that creates constructs and is powered by will and yellow is its only weakness. I´m not being funny, but comic nerds who have elevated him so high - till the point DC are so stupid they´re trying to replace WW in the trinity with him - are just strange to me. Its the same with Aquaman, I tell fans, look I don´t like the guy he´s stupid. There yeah yeah, but he´s badass you just don´t know enough about him. OK tell me "Um well he doesn´t just speak to fish, did you know he´s bullet proof and super strong." I reply yeah so what, what about the guys mythology, his story. I get nothing. The story of Green Lantern Hal jordan is quite frankly a joke and the best they can do to make it as deep as other DC characters like MMH or Shazaam or Superman, is make John Stewart the main lantern and give him a sick new origin. Cause I´m sorry Hal Jordans origin is weak and boring, which I think is primarily why the film failed. It doesn´t have the sublety or operatic epic quality as the Thrinity´s or Flash or Shazaams. Very little can be done with it. Its not stand out, its generic and very boring indeed.

In my opinion, the Green Lantern movies should be more focused in space because almost every sci-fi superhero movies always focused Earth as a center point for every villain or force of evil to rule, and to destroy. It should be focus across other galaxies and sectors. The movies should focus not just Hal Jordan, but all the Green Lanterns. It should be less superhero corny, and more of an intergalactic wild west. Also, they should make the villains less corny too. Of course, the battle against Sinestro should be epic, but they should do it how the first animated film of the Green Lantern did it. Again, this is my opinion.
