Green Lantern Part I:

Hal is a test pilot for Ferris Aircraft. His boss is Carroll Ferris. Owner.
As he is testing a new cockpit design he is drawn into the desert to a crash site
of an alien vessel, inside this vessel lay Abin Sur. A strange, pinkish skinned alien
wearing a green uniform and an oddly glowing green ring. Abin instructs Hal as to what
is going on and gives Hal his ring, explainging he is now the Green Lantern of sector 2814.
with that, Hal is wisked away to Oa, and meets the Guardians fellow lanterns, Kilowog,
Tomar Re, Ch'p and his instructor, Sinestro.

He feels welcomed, but has an uneasy feeling about Sinestro. But he brushes it off
as an aversion to any figure of authority. He soon finds himself able to wield the ring
like a natural. The guardians and fellow lanterns are impressed. Sinestro, is somewhat
disturbed, thinking this newcomer could somehow usurp his legacy as the most heroic and
valiant of the Corps.

After training he is sent back to aircraft hangar at Ferris Aircraft where is confront
by his boss, Carroll. She scolds him for daydreaming on the job and demands he get back
to testing the new cockpit design for potential buyers. He alludes all of the previous
happenings to just mere daydreams until he realizes he is still wearing the ring!

After a long day of work, and a very strange ordeal. Hal is contacted by the Guardian Ganthet
and is told of an impending disaster on his hometown of Coast City! There is a stray nuclear
missile headed for the heart of the city. Hal instinctively rushes to his car, but realizes
that he has the ability to fly, so he flies off towards the missile. As he intercepts it
he is contacted again by Ganthet and is told of the weakness to the color yellow that ALL
GL rings have. He is disturbed because this particular missile is YELLOW!

He find the front of it to be red, and deflects it into space, detonation above the atmosphere.
Releieved he has averted a disaster to his hometown, he goes home. Finding a note on his door
he opens it and reads "Hal, I have contacted you because...I don't know why, I felt compelled
to do so, I know you may think this is odd, but I would like to meet you sometime. Here is my number.
Guy Gardner"

Hal is astonished. At that time, Ganthet again appears and tells him that every GL has a
backup, he has just had his first contact with his. Meeting Guy, Hal believes he has found not only
an excellent replacement if the time should come, but a good friend.

Hal's next adventure is in aiding his Instructor Sinestro in protecting his homeworld
from an alien invasion; after succesfully repelling the attack. Hal is made a guest of
the House of Sinestro, and comes to realize, Sinestro is a mad Dictator! Not at all concernced
about truly protecting his people or sector, but for furthering his reign of power!

Hal venture's to Oa in the middle of the night and tells the Guardians of what Sinestro
is doing to his homeworld and his people. Hearing this, Sinestro is transported to Oa
and confronted by the Guardians. Who find what Hal says to be true, they strip Sinestro
of his ring and banish him to Qward, the antimatter universe, so he can no longer have control
over his people.

The GL Corps and Guardians are releieved to be rid of such a troublesome and rogue Lantern.
They are unaware that while they think he is alone in this universe, he has come in contact with
the Qwardian Weaponers, who use weapons powered by a yellow energy.

After heading back for Earth, and his home in Coast City, he is confronted by BLack Hand, who possesses a weapon capable of draining the energy of Hal's ring, or absorbing the residue of the rings energy. With the ability to do so, Hal is met with a standstill as he tries to overpower Black Hand using his ring to make constructs of all sorts, but is stopped at every turn by the weapon the Black Hand is wielding. He manages to dodge several attacks from his enemy, but id caught in ana energy blast and his ring is almost completely drained...With little choice, and his life and possibly those of the civilians in danger, he quickly outwits Black Hand by taking off his ring, and placing it at a far enough away distance so Hands weapon can no longer absorb it's energy. Hal being the physical superior, rushes Hand and disarms him, they face in hand to hand combat, but Hand is no Match for Hal Jordan, and as Hal renders Black Hand unconcious, he smashes the villains weapon, returning the energy to his ring. Once again in posession of his ring, he places Black Hand in custody and delivers him to the authorities.

Green Lantern is honored as a hero to his city, and the nation as a whole for his acts of heroism. News reporters, photographers etc etc surround the hero, but being unacustomed to the limelight, he gives a nod and flies off to his home.

the movie closes with a maniacal laughter and the bright yellow glow of energy from an unknown
source of the unseen side of a distant small, planetoid.

If you have anything to add (or detract) from this, please, contact me, or post some comments. I want to know what you all would like to see as well. ALSO, if you have ideas for parts II and III, or enemies that should be in them, add those too! Thanks in Advance!

id go see that movie. is that the origin story in the comic? the only thing id do differently is put another justice leaguer in there somewhere so it links up to the JL movie. even a minor character like mister miracle would be cool

For the most part yes. There's a few minor changes, but nothing that would really change much. I was going to add mention of the Justice League in II. But I could add someone somewhere in here.

Well, it sounds good but there is no climax. You need a legitimate threat even in the first one other than sinestro so that he could be able to be part of the second. So don't change a thing about Sinestro, just add another baddy to face off with Hal at the end. Plus we need to hear about John and Kyle too man. Please tell me Hal turns into paralax in the third!

I have a question... who fired the nuclear missile? (maybe a test from the Guardians corps?).

In the first, aside form the missile, he could go up against such foes as Black Hand, or Star Sapphire, or Goldface. I'd prefer Black Hand, since it lends itself greatly to the symbology of things to come in the GL storyline.

As for the missile, launched by an Evil Scientist...I would make it a test from the Guardians. John would come in in the Second, Hal would become Parallax in the III, and we'll get to know about Kyle in that one as well.

It's just that as you can see from my previous posts I really hate loose ends in movie scripts(or comics, or novels, or TV, etc, etc)(unless intentionally made to add to the story). A mad scientists who appears out of nowhere to fire a missile to a city and is never heard of in the story again, is one of those loose ends I don't like. (Not to mention the implications that a flying nuclear warhead over US soil would have on world politics). It's sort of a minor version of the Stepford wives script. I mean WTF? were they robots? were they nanoenhanced women? why were there robotic bodies in the basement if at the end all the chips just explode and everything goes back to normal?

If the guardians gave him his ring and as a sort of test made the whole attack (Even if he failed, the missile wouldn't have exploded, they'd just take away his ring), I'd feel more comfortable with the story. That would explain why it is yellow (he has to be able to overcome the rings limitations, or else no ring). I've never seen a real missile, but in the movies they are usually gray or white.

Right, and I don't believe that "evil scientist" was ever heard from again. he was American though, so there wouldn't be any trouble with international politics.

Yea, missiles only come in a few colors, primarily white, grey, green and tan, but for storyline purposes, it's yellow because the Guardians made it yellow, to keep him on his toes. I don't think they explain why it's yellow in the comic, I haven't read it in yeeeeeears.

OK, so I edited to have a nice battle with one of Hal's major villains, Black Hand.

Well as for the missile, i want it to blow up if he fails to actually add some spice to the recipy. If the "Darkstars" don't care about collateral damage, and don't believe in the guardian's blind faith in Hal's potential that he's emanating, they could have logically created that missile to actually test him!

I"d like to see the "origin" story in various flashbacks scenes.

I have imagined an opening in space, maybe you remember the old HBO opening, sort of a warp portal thing going on. This time in green.

The usual GL figure all aglow moving at (now) near FTL as he/she/it approaches a planet in jeopardy from some floating space detritis.. the usual apocalyptic catastophe.. the usual banter with the ring, etc.

Lots of drama, some comedic wit and then the day is saved, narrowly and at great peril to all. But saved.

And then the opening Green Lantern across the screen..

But that's just me.

Everything else is just topping. :)

To me, you show your full hand if you make Sinestro the villain in the first movie. Think about the relationship that they had as friends. Whether its from Emerald Dawn II or Secret Origins, pre or post crisis, that is something that should never change. The betrayal that both characters feel towards each other. Teacher/Student.
Friend/Nemesis. That should be that same.

Make Sinestro the Villain in the second movie, and the pay off would be greater.

The missile came from "Showcase #22" September and October of 1959. The scientist wanted to be the first to "reach the goal of usable Hydrogen Power.

I think Hector Hammond should be the first real challenge because of how he put the puzzle pieces together on who the green lantern is. Not to mention that he comes pretty close to defeating GL.
