Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is inspired by the feature film, which brings the enduringly popular DC Comics super hero to the big screen for the first time and which stars Ryan Reynolds in the title role as Hal Jordan, the newest member of the Green Lantern Corps. In the videogame players will utilize over a dozen constructs and take flight across the deepest parts of the Universe to restore intergalactic order by wielding the ultimate weapon: the Green Lantern power ring.

Many thanks to Newsarama for the following screenshots.

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is set to be released on June 7 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS.

I got to play a demo the game last week at a local Best Buy store. It seems pretty good as third person camera action games go although I wouldn't say that the CG is anywhere as good as what will be in the film (I am certain that they didn't have the budget to do the same quality of vFx). Some notable things about the game are that the ring does speak and has a voice similar to the female voice of ,the Adjutant (Terran Advisor) in the Starcraft games. One memorable quote from the game was when Hal told the ring that he needed a big hammer (BFH). When he asked if it could make one for him, the ring said "I am powered by your will, Green Lantern. Anything you can imagine, I can create."). I found that kind of profound as well as memorable. A surprise Easter egg that I saw was the son of Abin Sur, Amon Sur, is in a cut scene in the game (I suspect that he might show up again later on).

When you take on hits, you can build up enough damage to go into an energy surge mode where you have unlimited energy for a brief period of time. This mode is similar to the rage mode in the MK vs. DCU game a couple of years ago. You get to play as Hal Jordan in the game and have initially available to you some basic constructs (fist(s), swords, a grappling chain, force field) and some special constructs (mini-rocket launcher, Gatling gun, baseball bat, mace and chains, a drill) with the ability to jump hover/fly, rush. As you continue on in the game you gain experience points and are awarded new constructs. As was explained at other websites, a second person can join in at any time and play as Sinestro.

This game looks really good for a change! I'm still wondering what a TDK game would be like though...

I went and saw Thor and there is a Best Buy right across from the theater. And they had a demo of this game. EPIC! it was awesome! I had more fun playing the demo than i did seeing Thor. I then reserved it at my local Gamestop. I will probably also buy the 3DS version too.

the reason this won't do it for me is one simple thing. the point of the ring is to not have a limit because its what your mind can imagine. there is a cap on the games possibilities.

JackDexx: Maybe they could save memory for endless constructs if they adopted a simpler "Bruce Timm" style.

I think they would be difficult in more detailed looking games.
