GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Wins Big At This Year's Critics' Choice Awards

Guardians of the Galaxy walked away from the 2015 Critics' Choice Awards with two gongs, but one was far more significant than the other! Hit the jump to check out director James Gunn and star Chris Pratt's fun acceptance speech along with the full list of nominees and winners...

Guardians of the Galaxy didn't do too badly when the Oscar nominees were announced this morning, but it sadly didn't receive a Best Adapted Screenplay nod despite recognition from the WGA. The Marvel Studios movie did however do rather well at the Critics' Choice Awards tonight, taking home a gong for Best Action Movie. It still feels like we're a long way off from seeing comic book adaptations get even more mainstream awards attention, but to make yourself feel better, check out the fun acceptance speech in the video below! How do you feel about the results?

Wow, this should be the main awards show, not the Oscars. They got alot right here, though I'd pick Hans Zimmer's score for Interstellar since that was one of his best. But other than that, not really any glaring complaints

I would have preferred CATWS winning a Best Action Movie award instead but looking at the greater picture, it is major step in the right direction for all CBMs.

So congrats to GOTG !

Hope it this win pushes the door even more and more CBMs are recognized as legtimate as any other movie when it comes to awards

It's sweet a CBM won some awards but...

2 awards is NOT wining big.

Especially at 2 very predictable wins.

I feel that CA:TWS was a better "action movie" Than GoTG. But GoTG just had more balls behind it

Considering I don't think of CATWS, XMDOFP, or DOTPOTA action films GOTG definitely deserves the win for that.

@Remy

I can't keep doing your homework man, you're gonna have to find DC yourself. I don't care if you tell the principal I threw that ball through Ms. Jenkins window.

@UnrealLuigi

The critics choice awards is the one award show that get's it right most of the time. You're talking about the guys that actually have nominated and awarded Tatiana Maslany for her roles in Orphan Black.

My only gripe about the action in TWS was the shaky cam during the fight scenes. The action in GOTG was more visibly coherent.

Cap 2 action scenes > GOTG action scenes.

GOTG whistle scene was good. Last fight (battle) was too CGI heavy.
Kinda George Lucas heavy.
Neverless Cap 2 final fight was also not that good. Batroc fight, Nick Fury car chase,
knive fight, elevator scene were great.

Anyway GOTG was good but overhyped. Also in few moments the movie was getting kinda ... Batman and Robinisssshhhhhhh ???
(i mean cheesy)

Drax character was terribly written (although Bautita was good)
Gamora seems to be strong in comics, here ... ehhhhhh. (although i didn't read the comic)
