James Gunn recently shot down a premature report that production had commenced on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but the writer/director has now taken to Twitter to officially announce that cameras are rolling with a behind-the-scenes photo of the main cast.

Gunn is pictured alongside Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Sean Gunn (Rocket/Kraglin), Karen Gillan (Nebula), and recent addition Will Poulter, who will play Adam Warlock. That looks like Peacemaker actor Chukwudi Iwuji directly behind Gunn, so we assume he's also joined the ensemble!

"It’s been a strange & long & at times challenging journey to get here," he wrote. "But the obstacles along the way have only made this moment more blissful. Back on set with my Guardians family for the first day of shooting."

Story details are still under wraps, but we do know that Gamora will be a big part of the movie, and it sounds like her relationship with Nebula is going to be the main focus. The original Gamora was sacrificed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, so, it's probably safe to assume we can expect a unique dynamic between the characters we reconnect with in what has been confirmed as Gunn's final GOTG film.

We're sure the filmmaker will share more details soon, but for now, all we know for certain is that the core team will return for more intergalactic adventures, and there's a pretty good chance not all of 'em will make it to the end credits!
