EVIL DEAD Writer Reveals That He And Fede Alvarez WON'T Return For The Sequel

Could this have anything to do with the fact that Sam Raimi will be returning to helm Army of Darkness 2? Well, either way, Evil Dead co-writer Rodo Sayagues has now revealed that he and director Fede Alvarez left the project a number of months ago and will have no involvement with the sequel.

Made for only $17 million, Evil Dead became a hit when it went on to gross over $97 million worldwide earlier this year. However, despite the success of the movie, it now appears as if neither writer Rodo Sayagues or director Fede Alvarez will return for a sequel. Talking to Desde Hollywood recently, the former revealed that they both left the project a number of months ago. "Look, I am sorry to tell you this but that movie won’t happen. Evil Dead 2 is not going to happen, at least not with us involved. We left that project many months ago because we preferred to put our energies on other things. I don’t know if the producers still have intentions of making it. But what I can tell you is that we are not part of that project." However, they will be working on four other projects together moving forward (including Dante's Inferno for Universal), but there was no mention of Doctor Strange, a movie which Alvarez denied any involvement with in our exclusive interview with him back in April. It reboot was a load of crap compared to the original. ifor one dont want to see another unless it's something to do with Raimi directing it.

Shame. The reboot was pretty good. Only thing I wasn't a fan was most of the final act. It is a 3,9 movie, and that's a great score! Hope the studio don't move forward with some generic dudes.

I'm gonna say Mia and Ash team up to search for the book of the dead in some ancient tomb of sorts, taking plot points from even a couple of the video games using a hot girl as some professor that's spent her life researching the book. Mia would bring in the younger audience familiar with the remake while Bruce's older Burn Notice fans would come in as well. The film should be like an Indiana Jones adventure with some splat stick gags. As for the title? It won't be called Army of Darkness 2, that's too vague. They should go with "Book of the Dead" like the original was intended. Also, it'd be interesting if Mia and Ash were still somewhat possessed and turned evil on each other in the movie. I can't help but rant, I'm a huge Evil Dead/Army of Darkness fan.

@NOLANITE- Hmm, you sound a little racist. Not saying you are, but throwing the word Mexican in with a bunch of derogatory comments made it seem that way. Also, TDKR is a stupid movie. I'm afraid your love of Nolan renders your argument moot.

Im not a fan of the franchise, but I did go see the reboot because how everyone was playing it up like it was some balls to wall horror movie and how some scenes were so intense that it made people leave the theater. But honestly there was nothing scary about the movie, it was just a gorefest, and people were leaving the theater but mainly because they were getting grossed out, not shocked and scared.

@NOLANITE... also, he's NOT Mexican, he's from Uruguay, but I guess you don't even know where that is at in a world map, right?....

What a shame, I'd go Fede Alvarez as a director over Raimi any day.

Seriously?!? God DAMN it!

Why can't these damn franchises ever just unfold the way they're supposed to? What the hell is Fede Alvarez working on that's so much more interesting than an Evil Dead 2? Dante's Inferno? Really?

Ugh.

Well, I hope whoever they get to do Evil Dead 2 (if they do an Evil Dead 2 at ALL now) is at least as talented as this guy was. I REALLY liked the Evil Dead "remake", and I was looking forward to seeing him expand the story into a larger framework in the sequel. Alas, it was not meant to be...

I really liked the remake, I wonder since theyre not gonna return, are they still gonna move ahead with the sequel? Cuz the plan was to do ED2 then AoD2 then merge the two movies together. He did a pretty good job tho. This sucks.
