Paul Feig's GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot Will Be Inspired By... THE WALKING DEAD?

It might seem like an unusual source of inspiration, but remember that in addition to the laughs, the original movie could be pretty damn scary at times.

AMC's The Walking Dead is by far one of the most gruesome, bleak, intense, and -- it must be said -- humourless shows currently on TV; and it'll apparently be influencing Paul Feig's upcoming reboot (and he confirms that it will be a 100% reboot) of beloved horror comedy, Ghostbusters. The Bridesmaids director was a guest on The Talking Dead immediately following Sunday's episode, and when quizzed about whether he'd have any brain-eaters in the movie or not, he revealed that the zombie survival series would inspire his take on the '80s classic.

"I will say, I was very inspired by this show. What I love is how they play with the danger, they play with the scariness, but also the idea that it’s always about gauntlet run. And that’s something, an element I want to bring to this Ghostbusters reboot is having to get through these various obstacles that are supernatural and all that. I really feed off of The Walking Dead."

We all seem to have been focusing on Feig's comedic background when discussing his plans for the movie, but though Ghostbusters is primarily seen as a comedy by most, let's not forget that it also had its fair share of genuine scares so it's good to know he's taking that into account. Of course there's always a chance Feig was playing this up a bit because he was on The Talking Dead, but it's definitely something interesting to consider as the movie gears up for preproduction.

Ghostbusters will star Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, and is set to hit theaters on July 22, 2016.

He's just sucking TWD's dick and trying to get himself out there to showcase Ghosbusters.

Nothing will make this movie good. Nothing. Nothing will come out of a Paul Feig movie with Melissa McCarthy and a bunch of nobodies, that are rebooting an iconic movie series like Ghostbusters. Nothing.

This guy is just a bullshitter.

Maybe if I just ignore this movie and pretend it doesn't exist, it won't exist.

Yes, I agree-the original and the sequel had scary moments. Even the cartoon was(Look at episodes "Mrs. Rogers Neighborhood" & "Ragnarok and Roll" to know what I'm talking about). Still having an influenced by The Walking Dead...

Sounds like they may be going more in the direction of the video game with that gauntlet run comment. There were quite a few aspects of that game I find to be scary.

Still doesn't seem to be catching on that no one asked for this movie besides Hollywood moguls who have run out of original ideas.

I don't know how The Walking Dead will inspire a Ghostbusters movie full of comedic actors. You don't hire a cast full of comedic actors to play it straight. Guess we'll find out how this all plays out.

there was absolutely nothing scary about the old Ghostbusters franchise...funny as hell? 100%. but I challenge anyone to name one "genuine scare" in the entire franchise...just one...

This is starting to sound more like a hodge-podge of ghost movie tropes...will approach with MUCH skepticism with a dash of hope

The walking dead is a depressing and boring look at humans trying to survive, its essentially a post-apocalyptic drama with occasional cameos from Zombies.

If the Ghost Busters reboot, a series most know for its humour and dark comedy is going to be anything like that, then count me out. I'm not interested in seeing Ghost busters in the style of Walking Dead.

Does this mean people will like the original source more?... Cause from what I understand, most fans of the walking dead comic absolutely HATE the show for ruining everything that made the comic special.

Hope the show kills off Daryl, Carol, Abraham, and the baby...then it would gain some of the comic fans back. Both the original Ghostbusters and the Walking Dead comic are loved for being bold, and different.

The new Ghostbusters will be the same as the show for walking dead...a diluted mess, and shadow of the original source.

I like how all the comments are "Walking dead? With comedy?? GARBAGE! I'M OUTRAGED!"

But that's what Shaun of the Dead is, and you all LOVE that. If it's a good movie, you will all like it.
