Jeff Nichols was set to helm Paramount Pictures' planned A Quiet Place spinoff before parting ways with the project last year, and Deadline is now reporting that the still untiled movie has found a new director.

Pig filmmaker Michael Sarnoski is now in final talks to take over as director on the third A Quiet Place installment, which is not expected to serve as a direct follow-up to Part II. Plot details are under wraps, but it's highly unlikely that Emily Blunt will reprise her role (which suggests the story will focus on an entirely new group of characters).

John Krasinski, who helmed and starred in the previous films and came up with the idea for this one, reportedly added Sarnoski's name to the shortlist of potential directors after being "blown away" by Pig, which stars Nicolas Cage as former chef who sets out to find his prize truffle pig after he's hog-napped.

A Quiet Place Part II was the first post-pandemic theatrical-only release, and ended up taking in over $297 million at the worldwide box office. The movie also garnered rave reviews (you can check out ours here), and sits at 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.

As far as we know, a threequel focusing on the Abbott family is still in development.
