Shawn Levy's Frankenstein Will Be Filmed from Igor's Perspective

Check out this video interview with Max Landis, son of John Landis, writer of the new Frankenstein movie, as he explains the origin, the history and the misconceptions of Igor.

Max Landis excitedly explains the evolution of the Igor character. Going to great lengths to explain the origin and history of the character. It's actually quite interesting to see where the modern version of the sickly assistant of Dr. Frankenstein came about. How the character of Igor was portrayed in the original tale that Mary Shelley spun together.

Also, Max addresses the outlandish rumors that the film will be set at a circus. Which to be honest is news to me, but I guess I'll believe that, that rumor is floating around.

NO NO NO NO NO NO! Don't remake anyshit like this over again. Both Dracula and Frankenstein is already remaded in the 1990's already. Really? do we need remakes of classics in every decade?

Alas poor Hollywood. 'Tis a sad and grievous time we live.
For they hath run out of ideas, and so we, the public, must suffer...YET ANOTHER RE-MAKE THAT HATH BEEN DONE TO DEATH ALREADY!
Ah, I digress. 'Tis passion for originality that hath gripped me. Mayhaps a saucy screenwriter and stout producer conceive a novel and yet unseen film spectacle that can truly awe it's audience with joyous sensation!

What's with all the universal monster movie "reboots" i was fine with the classics! Although the creature from the black lagoon could use a reboot plus if they have his setting in the tropical amazon then we have a chance to see hot college girls playing marine biology interns wearing skimpy clothing!

to find the light of life
I first drown'd in death's mere
for six months hence
hours quenched hours and days fed days as
I slaved through dearth of sleep
seeing moons shake hands with rising suns

that a son may I conceive
beauty bring
life create

I chose carefully his features
as to Michaelangelo his David
tall and strong and ivory pale
his teeth of lustrous pearl
his hair a sheen of black and flowing oil
he was

beautiful

be life not beauty?
be beauty not life?
prithee harken fere
think me abomination?
think me heretic?
for naught but beauty create?

tis ye who art abominable
twas ye who carried scythe
waving hell-fire o'er hooded robes
twas your wretched actions a monster wrought
ye blood filled eyes sought naught but baneful rage

whence came ye?
from loving grace?
tis sulfur's stench I smell
of satan's pit; ye I trow

ye has nary an inkling of god's six days
nor a Father's love bequeath
I brand ye Cain
and to beloved son
bestow upon thee Abel

I'm behind this one. It looks as if he's got a different take and a fresh perspective on the whole thing. I've never seen the story played out as written, though: about a dead-beat dad.

In other words... I'll still be waiting for a worthwhile adaptation of the book even after this movie. Somebody make a movie of the actual book already. Please.

1)Frankenstien's monster speaks french. It's his first language.
2)Igor does not exist. Victor has a best friend which the closes he gets but is clearly nowhere near an igor character.
3)Victor deliberately did not explain how he brought his monster to life in his narration. He down played the moment. That's how it should be not lightning and/or electric eels. Think Sam Raimi's Spider-Man. Peter gets bit by the spider. A brief, yet tense moment. Epic moment. Did not require massive physical drama. The monster comes to life in one sentence. Victor relates the spark of life and then describes the moment it's yellow eyes finally open. The moment he realizes his revulsion towards the masterpiece he created.

"It was on a drear night of November, that I beheld the accomplishment of my toils. With an anxiety that almost amounted to agony, I collected the instruments of life around me, that I might infuse a spark of being into the lifeless thing that lay at my feet. It was already one in the morning; the rain pattered dismally against the panes, and my candle was nearly burnt out, when by the glimmer of the half-extinguished light, I saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open; it breathed hard, and a convulsive motion agitated its limbs."

Why would they even have Igor in the film? He wasn't in the original or the book. Dr.Frankenstien's deformed assistant was named Fritz.
