The other day, it was reported that Lionsgate will be moving ahead with a sequel to its surprise box office hit Texas Chainsaw 3D, which opened this past weekend. While that isn't surprising, considering that the studio bought the rights to make seven Texas Chainsaw movies, Leatherface's big screen future would've been uncertain if his latest outing wasn't very successful. Now, after its $21.7M opening weekend, Deadline confirms that Millenium Films is giving the go ahead to the next film, tentatively titled Texas Chainsaw 4. Production will begin later this year in Louisiana, and will be spearheaded by producer Carl Mazzocone, exec producers Mark Burg, Avi Lerner, Tobe Hooper, Trevor Short, John Thompson, Danny Dimbort, Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell. "Lati and Christa brought the idea of this franchise to us. They were certain of the audience appeal, so we signed on," Millennium Films Chairman Avi Lerner said. "And it turns out they were right. It was a bloody good decision. Lionsgate agreed to distribute the film in the US, and did a fantastic job. We very much hope to partner with them for the next chapter." Do you plan on seeing the next Texas Chainsaw?

Well, it certainly isn't Part 4, so that'll have to change.

So Leatherface is what, well into his 70s by now? Nice to know he can still run around hacking kids up like he was still in his mid 30s.

If you're not counting the reboots, it'll be TCM 6, if counting the reboots, (which this one has stated it is not in the one armed Leatherface reboot universe), it's part 9. I'm confused. How could they deny Viggo Mortenson, Mathew Mccounaghey and Renee Zellwegger's contributions to this franchise?!

I'm suppose to be seeing Texas Chainsaw 3D with my girlfriend within the next couple weeks. It don't look all that great but not bad either and she wants to see it so, why not? At least I refuse to see it in 3D.

Yeah, this movie really did suck, I'm a huge fan of the original, truly horrific and disturbing stuff, and Texas Chainsaw 3D really did give it a bad name. The continuity was all over the place... the original is set in 1973, this one is set in present day (we know this 'cause they use the latest iPhone in a scene just for advertisement) so.... Heather should be in her 40's.... not a big breasted young slutty girl. And in no way is this number 4... seeing as it carries on straight after the original and eliminates hoopers original sequel from the timeline.... well done lionsgate.... you dumped all over a classic.
