"I don't even know if there is an Iron Man 4. I hope there is an Iron Man 4, I hope I'm in it."

Back in April, when Gwyneth Paltrow was doing press for Iron Man 3 she told Geek Nation, "I don't think there's going to be [an Iron Man 4], I think we're done with Iron Man."

As we know, her co-star Robert Downey Jr. only signed a lucrative two picture deal with Marvel for Avengers: Age Of Ultron and the third untitled Avengers sequel. We'll assume based on that contract Marvel probably inquired about Downey Jr. interest in coming back as Tony Stark for a fourth solo film. If it happened he must've passed. And with Paltrow recently confirming that no one has called her about being in Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron, it looks likely that Iron Man 3 was that last we will see of Pepper Potts in the Marvel cinematic universe. Well, we still have the memory of seeing her at the climax of the film wearing, apparently fire retardant underwear.

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3″ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Iron Man 3 was directed by Shane Black, from a screenplay written by Drew Pearce. The film opened in theaters May 3, 2013. It stars: Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Gwyneth Paltrow (Virginia Potts), Don Cheadle (Col. James Rhodes), and Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.
