Worse movies have made three times what John Carter did. Such a shame.

I know it's a small point, but that font is so lazy and childlike you'd think they were advertising a made for tv movie.

"Star Wars for a new generation"

The Avengers is the closest we have to 'Star Wars' for a new generation

Such a good movie. If Disney would have just hyped it as much as WB has TDKR then John Carter would have been very successful financially.

Saw the movie last night and although it wasn't anything special it was enjoyable enough. It just lacked a few needed tweaks to flesh out things like Carters marriage story. And yes, all the way through the movie I thought....

LYNN COLLINS = WONDER WOMAN

Glad a few people here share the sentiment :-)

Sabconth, please don't make me laugh. You compare the avengers to star wars? that cheesy movie with alien invasion plot that has been done millions of times? Yes, it earns tons of money. But it's also forgettable, just as transformers.

@SirWinsalot & AnditsOn1

I just meant that The Avengers is the closest thing we've seen to a 'Star Wars' this generation.

I'm not saying it came anywhere near to being the same pop cultural touchstone that Star Wars did, I'm simply saying that out of all the recent films, the only one that came close to having that same level of massive wide spread appeal and commercial success was The Avengers.

I wouldn't say any film series has been a 'Star Wars for our generation' in the first place though, you can't recapture that sort of magic any more. In the same way you can't recapture Elvis Presley or The Beatles.

@Bropous. I'm sure if you look around, you can easily find Soloman Kane. It was a pretty good movie, worth the effort of digging around a bit.

Now I haven't seen this movie, and the reason why? Is because I thought it looked awful, and this clip has done nothing to change my mind.

I'm not saying it is awful, and I will get round to watching it to have an informed opinion, in a world where we have characters dressed up as Bats, American Flags and carry hammers that create lighting, somehow they made the main character in this look really daft and silly.
