This movie is really coming together fast. It seemed like it was only announced and we had plot details, then a picture of Karl Urban as the good Judge himself, and now the first footage will screen early next year.

According to CBR, the footage will air during a Q&A at the 2000AD panel at the Kapow! Comic Con in London. Here is the official press release for the event.

Visitors to KAPOW! COMIC CON will be amongst the first in the world to get an exclusive sneak peek at various upcoming comics, movie blockbusters and hit TV shows from the biggest publishers and studios in the world. The San Diego Comic Con experience comes to London on 9th & 10th April 2011.

Andrew Macdonald, producer of international blockbuster hits such as Trainspotting, 28 Days Later and Last King of Scotland will be talking about the upcoming Dredd, based on Judge Dredd from the 2000AD comics.

Andrew explains, “It is fantastic to be involved with Kapow! and I’m really looking forward to talking to all the fans about our upcoming Dredd movie. I’ll be on the 2000AD panel with a little taster of what people can look forward to from our 2012 release”.

The full film and TV guest list will be announced on the Kapow! website on 14th February 2011, this is a star-studded line up to reflect the excitement and the talent involved in the biggest year for comic book movies so far.

The announced comic guest list is unrivalled, and includes many creators who haven’t attended UK conventions in almost 20 years. Frankie Boyle, Stewart Lee and Noel Clarke, who all contribute to UK news stand magazine CLiNT, will be taking part in panel discussions. John Romita Jr. (Kick-Ass), Dave Gibbons (Watchmen), Frank Quitely (Batman), Leinil Yu (Secret Invasion), Bryan Hitch (The Ultimates, The Authority) Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Civil War) and many, many more will all be signing autographs, speaking on panels and giving exclusive previews of upcoming works.

Man, they better have some CGI added to that footage cause if they show it raw, it's not gonna help the film's hype.

I'm glad they are making a Dredd film closer to the comics. The Sly Stallone one was fun to watch but it wasn't Dredd.

Excellent news. Millar getting a great scoop like this will help get this Con some extra attention and hopefully other studios will follow the example of using Kapow! to debut new footage. (it would be awesome if everyone in the UK got the same chance as those in San Diego to see stuff like the Captain America footage) Still hoping I'll be able to go to this next year but havent bought any tickets yet.

@ Intruder: The Helmet was usually Drawn bigger in the comics. A Lot Bigger and awkwardly fitting.

cool... but he looks small. Hes a great actor but small for Dredd. Gerard Butler was made to be Dredd. Oh well hope it does well.
