The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

The film opens in 3D September 21st.

Can we get a [frick]ing trailer or teaser at least. My interest in this movie is declining but may pick up with a trailer.

I'm still worried. That helmet looks SOOOO frigging out of place with the whole costume. I still sometimes wish they got the team who've been trying to do that Judge Minty fanfilm a crack at costuming and set design. This still looks like something out of a SyFy movie or a direct-to-video release regardless of the supposedly strong script. If the script is somehow faithful (their words) to the comic books in terms of spirit, why can't they try to go for the looks as well?

Have to agree the logo looks weak. It looks like something I made in under 5 minutes.

I love Karl Urban as an actor and I have high hopes for this movie, but I can't help but laugh at that ridiculous scowl he seems to have in every photo.

God that costume looks cheap, like something you'll find in those old Doctor Who TV shows I hate.

Karl Urban has no prominent chin or the physique for Dredd.

If they had made that helmet just about 10% to 15% smaller, it would had been perfect. Right now, I think it looks too big.

I think the new photo is fantastic, and believe me, I've been very critical of the previous photos of the uniform. This new image has restored my faith in the look. :) :)

I do fear the storyline is the film's major weakness. If people want 'Die Hard meets Robocop 2 with a touch of Bullet Time' then this film has good chance of decent box office but if people want something more specific to Judge Dredd's world, such as

The Mega-Rackets storyline

The Hunters Club

Graveyard Shift

then I think this film could be in trouble. Fortunately for DNA and IM Global the vast majority of potential punters for Dredd haven't read the comic strip so they might not care if it the story seems very Die Hard-ish. I do feel Alex Garland lacks much imagination. John Wagner - creator/writer of Judge Dredd - is blessed with one of the greatest sci-fi imaginations the world has ever seen. And that's no exaggeration.

The trailer is expected tomorrow or Friday. :)

Just to add - the scowl on Urban's face is 100 percent faithful to the source material. I don't know if it will look good on screen but Urban is trying to be faithful to the character and you can't fault him for that.

Nice fan cover. Dredd could be done with a very simple poster. A helmet or badge or perhaps one half of Judge Dredd's face is visible, the other in shadow.

Lionsgate's posters look pretty cool so I'm sure the finished poster will be good. :)
