Fan Site For JUSTICE LEAGUE Director Joss Whedon Shuts Down After Ex-Wife Pens Scathing Essay

Warner Bros. may be regretting the decision to hire Joss Whedon to helm Justice League as the filmmaker is mired in controversy due to an essay penned by his ex-wife ruining his reputations as a feminist.

For years, Whedonesque has been a reliable source of intel for news on director Joss Whedon (mainly thanks to the fact the filmmaker has frequently posted there himself) but the fan site has announced that it's closing down following the publication of an essay by his ex-wife over the weekend. In that, Kai Cole branded him as a "hypocrite preaching feminist ideals" and detailed a series of affairs he reportedly had while the two were married stretching back to his Buffy the Vampire Slayer days.

Cole paints Whedon as the furthest thing from a feminist and claims she's suffered "Complex PTSD" due to the way he treated her during their marriage. While he's responded with a statement claiming the blog post "includes inaccuracies and misrepresentations" and refuses to respond for the sake of their children, he's surrounded by negative press and that could ultimately hurt Justice League.

Whedon has already come under fire for decisions he made in regards to Black Widow in Avengers: Age of Ultron and that ultimately led to him quitting social media. This year also saw the publication of his Wonder Woman screenplay and it was deemed sexist and offensive for a variety of reasons despite the fact that the director has often preached feminist ideals and is praised for his depiction of women.

While there's a chance this could blow over by the time Justice League is released (a movie which Whedon has taken over following Zack Snyder's decision to step down), the fact he's become something of a pariah online and has his own fans turning on him may be far from a good thing...
