lol @BrotherStark

I REALLLLY wonder how this is gonna be accepted by the American mainstream audience in light of a 'post Aurora/Newtown movie going public'. Will an 'A-List' actor like Jim Carrey bring a 'gravitas' to this project that it might not otherwise have?

'Off-the-hinges' violent is what we would expect from this, but for those 'not in the know,' 'Kick-Ass 2' would seem to be the next 'lightning-rod' movie that 'Django Unchained' is currently.

My hope is that the directors and writers don't ultimately edit the finished product down to a 'palatable' film that is SO 'pc' that it's broader, more important points about youth violence aren't lost in the shuffle.

After watching Savages it will be hard to look at Dave as anything other than a badass. Savages was a great movie now he's going to portraying a scrawny little asshole high school runt.

What's this hyphenate name BS? That boy s name is just Johnson dammit, no Taylor in it. He needs to step up to that much older wife of his and take his name back like a man. Normally I'd give props to a young turk bagging an old cougar but its clear who wears the pants in this relationship.

Also PeteDarker, yore reading into this way too much. First of all the flick isn't coming out until June. I'm not saying people are gonna just forget about all this gun violence debate by then, but people have short attention spans. The public will have moved on to another cause or crusade by then. An to say that KickAss2 will be another lightning rod movie is overstepping as well. Do I hope it will be good? Yes. Do I think it will perform well? No. Historically speaking, of course. I don't have much faith in Wadlow and also the fact that this movie is coming out in a jam packed summer. And it's also rated R. It will most likely get lost in the shuffle. And what's more, this movie is no Django, sir. Django was highly anticipated, it was QTs first film coming off of his most successful film, it had hot button issues like violence, slavery, and racism, and it starred TWO Oscar winners in the lead roles. Oh and the movie itself is Oscar nominated. That's why it's been a huge part of the public discussion lately. KickAss2 is none of those things and its certainly no Django. The only thing people will be talking about is how far Jim Carrey has fallen

@TheDudeRises - Don't sell Kick Ass 2 short. The first movie was a great film. I loved Django! Great film. Genius. So was Kick Ass. Django dealt with hot button issues, but it was also funny, overly violent, action filled, fun to watch and somewhat unexpected. Kick Ass dealt with a regular kid that saw the way people acted towards each other and decided to become a superhero to do something about it. This lien said volumes about today's society, where many would film some old lady getting KOed on their phones rather than help her out.

"
Diner Fight Guy 1: The [frick] is wrong with you, man? You'd rather die for some piece of shit that you don't even [frick]ing know?
Dave Lizewski/Kick-Ass: The three assholes, laying into one guy while everybody else watches? And you wanna know what's wrong with me? Yeah, I'd rather die... so bring it on!
"

Kick Ass was funny, overly violent, more action filled, more fun to watch and very unexpected. Kick Ass didn't have the same level of A-listers cast, but it was an undeniably genius movie. If Kick Ass 2 can match it or surpass it, it may be one of the best movies of the year. The only movies I want to see more than KA2 are Man of Steel and Iron Man 3. Thor 2 comes right after.

@Lapress...yep - i know exactly where both of those places are. As a matter of fact, that location was in the climax scene of Norton-Hulk too.

Any bets on to weither the studio puts in the scene from the graphic novel where Red Mist pulls out his guns and blasts all the little kids away? That was quite the plot twist!
