Fans are speculating about the next plum book role for a young actress: Katniss Everdeen, the teen heroine of Suzanne Collins' young-adult dystopian trilogy. The final novel, Mockingjay, shoots to the top of USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list in its first week of sales. ET, MTV and the Los Angeles Times all say Kick-Ass star Chloe Moretz has the inside track to star in the adaptation of the first book, The Hunger Games. Twilight's Kristen Stewart is also mentioned in nearly all the online shortlists, according to The Daily Beast. The screenplay was written by Collins and revised by screenwriter Billy Ray (24,Flightplan). Production begins early next year.

If you don't know what the young-adult science fiction novel is about, it is the first book of a trilogy and introduces sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world where a powerful government called the Capitol has risen up after several devastating disasters. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event where the Capitol chooses one boy and one girl from each district to a fight. The purpose of the Hunger Games is to show how no one, including children, is above the Capitol's power. The last person standing wins the game.

hopefully the remakes are as good.

God is she f**king talented, what a future she is going to have. Maybe the best thing for her is to watch Lindsay's downfall with f**king drugs and know what NOT to do!

She'd be great in the role. The books are nothing short of brilliant and she would be perfect as Kasniss.

And forget about that Twilight shite, they are a million miles apart.

YES! Twilight sucks and The Hunger Games is more Kick-Ass than Twilight. Film HAS to be rated "R" if it has any shot to be good.

Did anyone else read the novel "Battle Royal" or see the movie? This seems like a toned down version of it. BR is in a "dystopian future" where each year a class of high school seniors are randomly selected and sent off to an island where they have to kill eachother until only one is left. Not saying this sounds bad though. For my tastes it does not get any better than Stephen King's "Running Man" novel, yes the novel, that movie they made with Arnold was soooooo different from the book. Good to see Chloe in more movies, she might last into adulthood!

@JoJo Risin
I didn't even KNOW there was a Battle Royal 2! Guess I'll have to put it on my Netflix list!
If anyone posting likes this sort of story then I REALLY REALLY advise picking up Stephen King's "The Running Man". It's the granddaddy of the "losing-contestant-on-a game show-dies" story. lol. Also it seems like King was looking into the future when he wrote it back in '73. I can honestly see "reality" heading in this direction. The only thing scarier than that is the fact that Snookie and the dude with the abs are "famous".

Sounds like an extremely watered down version of Battle Royale. If they really want to turn peoples heads, they should make a faithful adaptation of that book. I own the Korean movie, but they take a ton of liberties with the story. A truly faithful version of Battle Royale will have all of us spending a TON of money to see it again and again.

Chloe Moretz for Julie Power in a Power Pack film!!!

Are they gonna wait for her to grow up first? She'd be like, a 13 year old playing a 16 year old.

It sounds good to me. I've never read the book, but it sounds like a great basis for an epic action film starring a younger Hollywood cast.
IMO Chloe Mortez is THA SH!T!!! I just saw Kick-A$$ for the first time this past tuesday. F@#$ING EPIC! This girl is going to have a very bright future in the biz.
@StrangerX- Yes she is. Let's hope for more big projects staring her. :)
@Upupandaway- YES!!! I was reading the last article on "Let me in", and I began to wonder "Who could this girl play in a Marvel movie project?". Then it hit me like a Chuck Norris round-house kick to the face... One of the members of the Power Pack would be perfect. I'm not a real fan of the Power Pack, but it would work so well. Great minds think alike. XD

I'm tired of post apocalyptic movies. The villains are always over the top and cheesy, and the stories are rarely any good. I liked Book of Eli though lol

I dont know about her, I think that shw could be perfect for a role in the movie. But I don't think it could be Katniss. Maybe her younger sister?
DasBoot@ its not really much of a post apocalyptic story line as it is a rebuilt civillisation story line.

I'm currently reading the novel and its really good, it does remind me a Battle Royale a lot. I hope they do the movie justice, and Chloe Moretz is a great young actress, I think she's perfect for Katniss.
