Latino Review reports that the star of Avatar, Terminator Salvation and upcoming Clash of the Titans Sam Worthington is a frontrunner to star in Universal's New "Dracula" movie. The movie is to be directed by 'I Robot' helmer Alex Proyas .

The movie will focus on Vlad the Impaler, the Romanian royal who inspired the vampire tale popularized by Bram Stoker. It centers on how Vlad becomes this creature; the choices he made that transformed him into this tragic character.

Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless are scripting the film.

I'm interested in this movie. At least we will see a more traditional creature of the night rather than those godawful emo vamps.

I'm just fascinated how Sam Worthington are getting all these roles right now.

-ACCESSS out. Godspeed and MABUHAY!

If it is a hoax @acces. That would be a pretty sick joke. If it's not it's very sad news. But i was just thinking the same thing a couple of days ago. Anyone heard anything? Phoenix maybe??.

As for Worthington, nobody understands how he gets these roles. He probably sold his soul to the devil :p.

VS.

(SIGH) I don’t see it. Why is this guy getting cast in everything lately? I saw Avatar and I still wasn’t impressed by Worthington.

Sam Worthington is a very good actor. I trust him that he will be doing great in his upcoming role as Dracula. Being a lead actor sound pressuring because there are lot of expectations. It's the same way also when it comes to politics. There are lots of expectation around you that's why being a leader have big responsibility. Politically speaking, some sort of campaign finance reform was close to being completed, and that's an issue that's been on the books for a long time, but then the Supreme Court stepped in. The Supreme Court campaign finance ruling is a fantastic step forward in political candidates being put on EBay, which will – mark my words – happen. One wonders how low they'll go – perhaps we'll see the day when you can buy a senator for a couple of payday loans. (As if it doesn't happen already.) Granted, there is a rational, reasonable, and completely justifiable basis to the ruling, but at some point we do have to be able to ensure what team our public servants are batting for.

"At least we will see a more traditional creature of the night rather than those godawful emo vamps."

Wait, how is a "tragic character" a traditional creature of the night. That sounds pretty emo to me!
A traditional creature vamp movie wouldn't be tragic, it would be the Vamp killing every thing and enjoying it!

teabag: A guy calling himself bob2 posted an article last night saying that THEHAWK had died due to complications from the accident he was in...the article has now gone (probably because CBM want some confirmation before they post news like that which is understandable) but nobody knows whether it was true or just a hoax by some sick [frick]er. :(

As for Worthington, as long as these roles keep him too busy to play Captain America then I'm happy with this news! :P

Josh@ yea i read that article 2...that would be pretty messed up if that was a hoax...but as messed up as it may be..im sure we r all hoping it WAS a hoax...hopefully we will get confirmation soon as possible!

as 4 sam worthington...every great action star in history has had its haters...in my opinion he is this years jason statham lol...remember when statham 1st hit..man he was in everything...put out a movie like 5 times a year....I like worthington tho...and am glad he is getting these roles...i think everything he has done so far has been gold! i cant wait 2 see clash of the titans!

Sam Worthington is slightly over rated in my opinion. Christian Bale gave a better performance in Terminator. And That Female actress in Avatar outshined Sam, and showed alot more emotion to the character in the movie.

Did anyone else read everything she/he/thatperson just said? RANDOM

I'm not a big fan of Sam, but I'm proud of him. He's riding the wave with all he's got, cause we all know, he will be almost forgotten a year or two from now.

JohanK: [frick] off, we don't want that shit on here!!!

As for Worthington, he is definitely over rated but not undertalented. I'm sure he is able to fit certain characters and i think he could be a decent choice for this film. I for one can't wait to see it!!! I remember the only thing i felt was missing from Stoker's movie was the origin. It was there but not long enough.

And as for HAWK, i e-mail HAWK & Pheonix constantly but the last time i had a message from them was on Friday. If something had happened, i think PHEONIX would have contacted me. I sent them an e-mail to find out what's goin on. I'll let you guys know what i find out. IMO, i think this bob2 is probably the guy who was giving Hawk & Pheonix so much trouble. Even sent them a virus which crashed their computer. I'll confirm what i can get ASAP.

@ JohanK really? You got into Political financing from Sam worthington in a vampire film? I agree with the people who said [frick] off, so [frick] off.

Also I hope TheHawk thing is a hoax

and I think Worthington won't be horrible but who knows his acting could, in this film, be as bad as the entire twilight franchise, yeah I went there lol

Saw the first movie. It wasn't as good, it was more of a documentary that was trying to be a tragic tale.

Alex Proyas + Dracula = F*CKING AWESOME MOVIE! Though i would like to see Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman or Paul Bettany as Vlad the impaler.
But i´m sure that Worthington is good choice.

Brad Pitt's proposed Vlad is going to be completely historical, with no Vamps at all.

Please read my recent blog about Dracula: Year Zero & Vlad:
