Chloe Moretz is fast becoming something of a fanboy household name, as she was easily the best thing in Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass, brining Hit Girl to life in all her foul mouthed, blood splattered glory. And we will see her next as the Vampire Abby in Matt Reeve's Let Me In. Now she is set to portray another somewhat iconic comic book character..albeit one that might not tickle the fancy of most of the male CBMers out there!..

According to Deadline..

Universal Pictures has acquired rights to the Dark Horse comic Emily The Strange, and Moretz is attached to play the title role of the odd but stylish young lady.

For those unfamiliar with the character..

Created by Rob Reger and his company Cosmic Debris in 1993, Emily the Strange has become an internationally known icon for individualism, female empowerment, and do-it-yourself style. Born from the San Francisco graphic arts community, Emily graces a full, rock-influenced fashion clothing and accessory line, including everything from T-shirts, dresses, and underwear, to toys, guitars, and school supplies. She is the featured character in a series of comic books from Dark Horse Comics, four hardbound Chronicle Books, and a new series of young adult novels from Harper Collins Publishing.

Creator Rob Reger says of Moretz..

"When I first met Chloe I knew I found my Emily," Reger said. "She really identifies and understands the character, and has what it takes to bring her to life."

I haven't read any of young Emily's exploits, but I have heard of her and seen her pale face all over the place! Any of you guys familiar with this comic?
