SteveScotland: I use to when I was a teenager but I picked up the guitar and got away from art. It is definitely not like riding a bike. It doesn't just pop back in when you want to use it.

I love his style. I think it's a nice balance between detailed and flashy stylistic.

Hawksblueyes - You're right about that. I haven't drawn in years other than quick sketches to try and illustrate something at work which usually ends up looking like shit. Back when I did draw though, grade school thru high school, I was actually pretty good even though I was my own worst critic at the time. My art teacher sent some of my stuff to an art school without my knowledge and they tried hard to get me to come to school there but I didn't think I was good enough at the time. My advice to anyone with a god given talent, no matter what it is, USE IT!

BTW, Jim Lee kicks [frick]in ass! He's been my favorite cb artist since Uncanny X-Men #248.

MsKyle: Get in the trunk woman!

weneed: That lady's after blood.

Jack: No doubt. You basically just told my story through school. The only difference is, once I picked up the guitar, drawing sort of slipped away. If I had a few spare minutes I was playing music. I guess I traded one for the other.

as an art student myself, i hate some things about his style. he is one of the best for superhero comic books, but i can't stand the fact that he and david finch always make them so muscle-y. you can't wear a spandex or an armor and have your veins popping out over the spandex. they have incredible detail, but some things are just over the top.

Goof find, If you guys get a chance look up "Stabur Comic Book Greats" hosted by Stan the Man Lee, theres a ton of segments on youtube featuring Jim lee, Todd Mcfarlane, Rob Leifeld and other comic book artist. The showed aired in the late 80's early 90's so its bit dated but definitely worth checking out

thank you so much for posting this. I'm an aspiring comic book artist and I'm usually much more careful and thought out about my stuff, as not to make a mistake, but i def need to learn from this and try and get faster so i can create my own style.

My God, he's a god!

And no wonder, I've always tried to be realistic!

Anybody knows what did he use to draw there btw (It's a pencil, isn't it?)?

Jim Lee is great at what he does but for my money, it doesn't get any better than Dale Keown:

But hey, we all have our favorites so to each's own ;)
