"The idea came to me when Christopher Reeve died a few years ago," the comic book writer told Comic Book Resources in a recent interview. "I looked at the covers of all the newspapers. It was very moving. They'd all say, 'Christopher Reeve Dead' or 'Superman Actor Dead' and have a photo of him in his wheelchair next to a photo of him as a very potent and healthy Superman."
Millar then went on to talk about how the moving images inspired his latest creation which will apparently be different from his normal work: "I thought how powerful an image that was, and it stuck with me. I came up with an idea there and then of a little kid in a wheelchair, whose body was disintegrating with a horrible disease, getting the chance to become the world's greatest superhero."
Artist Lenil Francis Lu was then asked about the possibility of a movie and said that it's, "always in the back of your head. It's something that everyone dreams of, and with Mark it's a definite possibility. But the thing is, we've just got to focus on the comic book. If we actually have a successful comic book, that would be a huge, huge thing for me."
