NBC Casts Their Lead Character in New Superhero Pilot "The Cape"

NBC known for many years for their TV show "Heroes," which features all sorts of superpowered people without any costumes, spandex or capes, has now got a pilot in the pipeline about a normal everyday guy who does wear them, and for a big reason. Now they’ve cast an actor for the shows lead character...

KSITE.TV has found out its none other than the Emmy Award-winning drama ER's David Lyons, who played Dr. Simon Brenner on the hit TV show. Lyons will be playing the main lead of Vince Faraday, who is a police officer who dresses up as a crime fighting superhero because he's name gets disgraced and he has to clear it, while also on a mission to finding a way to be reunited with his own son.

David Lyons is an Australian actor and is best-known abroad for his role on the Australian drama series called Sea Patrol, who played Josh Holiday.

Director is Simon West, who also directed the recent Human Target pilot.

TEA @ You sure?? I thought they said HEROES is looking good? Hope it ain't shelved, i know it was'nt the best season, but all series get the odd not-so-good season, damn hope your wrong man, i like HEROES!

oohh this sounds cool human target is awesome... yer leee i think heroes is out it lost loads of fans the beging of season 4 i hope they give it another chance i loved heroes i mean where els will i get my hiro fix if they have canned it.

What we need is MARVEL to pull their [frick]ing hands out and do the live-action TV series they've promised, maybe DISNEY will kick 'em up the a$$ lol!

And bring on MARVEL CHILLERS!!!

yer some marvel live action could be really cool im hopeing to see some cgi marvel films like shriek but no as cartoony i think if they arnt guna do films like ant man they should do a cgi film instead of doin a live action but i cant wait to see what films disney will do for marvel .
true i do have them 2 shows but at the end of season 4 of hereos they show volume 5 i think it was so i hope that its just takeing a long break .

Jimdlux...are you kidding me? HEROES is the worst thing I've ever seen on NBC. I hung on for as long as I could and if it get renewed, I will not be tuning in. Its a horrible show....I really want NBC to succeed with their programming because they got nothing! Here's hoping The Cape will succeed.

Roscoe182 @ I kinda wanna see a live-action ANT-MAN dude, but hell yeah i'm all for CGI toons, SECRET WARS or even CIVIL WAR, INFINITY GAUNTLET are begging to be made that way!!

An if HEROES don't come back, i'm sure they will wrap it up with a TV movie or two like they do, but i'm hoping it comes back (it deserves a chance to get back where it once was).

Theres not much out there, which is surprising as most of the biggest blockbuster movies are comic book or comic book related these days?

agreed you would think more would want to get involved with the comic genra. yer i think ur right they need to end it propley. ahh id love to see the CIVIL WAR cgi wow that really would make me a very happy man iv allways thought spidy would suit the cgi screen better than live action thair is just some things live action can never do but cgi opens the whole book up but it will be a very long time b4 we see marvel do a spider-man film sadly

This show actually sounds promising!
He's a cop and desperate to hide his
identity so he dons a costume to cover
his real persona! He ain't super-powered
but does have cops skills of hand-to-hand
combat training!

This just might be good! Good actor in
the lead!

Man, I don't understand why they went from
the Heroes we loved to a hodgepodge of a
story where you couldn't tell who was good
or bad! Anybody knows ya don't turn your
heroes into villains! That just turns the
audience off! Not unless the hero turning
villain stays a villain and was a traitor
all along! Traitors you can love to hate but
they made us hate the real good guys!

Heroes deserves to die and so does Tim Kring,
that idjit!

With what NBC pulled with Conan, I have lost pretty much all faith in them. Also with them pulling shit like canceling Kings just as it was getting great.

They promote the shit out of Heroes (one of the most atrocious television programs I've ever witnessed), and Chuck (complete pablum imo).

The only half decent things they have going for them are Mercy, the Olympics lol, and Late Night Fallon is great.

But with this I wouldn't hold up much hope - since Cox bought them (and before), they've been doing some stupid shit.

I love this new way to make superheroes stuff, everyday people with hero attitude! Kick Ass is great, and Defendor looks cool! This average joe thing of having a jero personality is totally hliarious because that's the point, normal people thinking they can be super, even though they have no powers and stuff. I hope this pilot does become a new TV hit!! :D

NBC makes some sh1tty decisions. Even if this show actually turns out to be good...it'll probably get cancelled.

Examples of NBC not knowing quality when they see it, they cancelled:
The Black Donnellys
Southland
Late Night with Conan O'Brien

...Those are just three examples, I could think of more if I really tried.

@kalel- Thanks man. Other than the show "White Collar"...I'm not sure what else he's been in. From what I've seen he'd do a good job as Clark Kent/Superman.
