Project Rooftop unveils its latest design challenge: Create a new version of Captain America's costume!

Got a creative itch that needs to be scratched? Not impressed with the recent redesign of Steve Rogers' classic Captain America fighting togs for the new Marvel Studios movie? Head over to Project Rooftop and join the "Fighting Styles" contest!

Here are the details:

Steve Rogers may be a man out of time, but his red, white, and blue BDU is timeless. But that’s never stopped us before. Steady your quivering hands, designers, because Project: Rooftop is putting out the call: Send us your redesigns of the Sentinel of Liberty, Captain America!

Feel free to chose your preferred shield-slinger (Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, Isaiah Bradley, etc.), but you must choose someone who has operated under the title in continuity. Regardless of the man in the uniform, Captain America is a symbol as well as a warrior, and should represent America’s best ideals, even when others in power fall short of his moral standards.

Be sure to read our guidelines and send your entries as attachments to projectrooftop@gmail.com.

Entries must be received by August 1st, 2010

Previous redesign contests have included:

Wolverine

Wonder Woman

Superman

Iron Man

With a few tweaks, the Wonder Woman one would be good for a movie.

The Wolverine and WW ones aren't too bad but the Supes and Iron Man ones are appalling. Its still a good fun exercise though, it will be interesting to see how Cap turns out. With all the slight variances of the GL costumes that could also be an interesting exercise.

Those things are horrible! Worst. Costumes. Ever.

Okay, "realism" backers, how in the hell is Wonder Woman supposed to fight wearing boots almost up to her crotch? Those things would really stifle her movement.

There isn't a good one here. Wolverine looks like something from the Amalgam universe. Superman throws off his coat when he changes. Look, I can buy the idea that he has his costume on under his "street clothes", which he removes when needed as the Man of Steel, but how's he going to hide that jacket? And he's going to have this jacket AND the cape? Ridiculous! (I will give credit that I do like the "golden-age" style of the art, at least), and lastly, that "Iron Man" looks like something from a bad anime.

1st off all entries were creative and thought provoking if anything. I ,as well, will be trying this, thanks Brent for the heads up.

1. Wolverine - Metal Gear "Snikt!"
2. Wonder Woman - Not right, but still way better than
Jim Lee's.
3. Superman - I see that scarf and I keep thinking
Clark "Carradine" Kent.
4. Iron Man - I'm with ROBBEATZZ, looks like Iron Man:
Clone Wars. Armor looks kinda Rocketeer
-ish.

As comicb00kguy mentioned, The Wolverine is a complete rip-off from the Amalgam..maybe they thought nobody remembers it.

The superman drawing ITSELF is a carbon-copy from the Golden Age

WW is stiff at best. yeah the Iron Man one kinds of is inspired by the Samurai Jack art, which is ok.. IM looks like a Hi-Tech Armored Samurai..liked the glass in Tony´s hand.nice touch.
