Ryan Reynolds is. . . Captain Excellent!

Apparently, portraying Green Lantern and Deadpool aren't enough for the sought-after actor. This time around, though, he gets to keep his comedic flair while sporting a ridiculous suit.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Before the inevitable question comes up, I want to clear up that this movie IS NOT based off of a comic character or comic book. I generally try to stay away from posting anything that doesn't fit within the superhero/comic movie boundaries, but I just couldn't help myself this time.

What this film does have is Ryan Reynolds playing a superhero. Actually, an imaginary friend that just so happens to be a wise-cracking, arrogant superhero. Think Hannibal King... but without the cursing and with spandex.

The film is Paper Man, and stars Jeff Daniels as a failed, middle-aged novelist who has never quite grown up and Emma Stone as a 17-year-old girl whose role in a family tragedy years earlier has stolen away her youth. It's being categorized as a 'dramety,' or equal parts drama and comedy.

Being the Ryan Reynolds fan that I am, I'm glad to see a film where he gets to use his unique comedic talent while sporting a cape. Here is the first trailer and a short scene from the film.

Though it's been over a year since this film had it's debut, it is finally scheduled for limited release on April 23, 2010.
