JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION Has Completed Post-Production; Could A Trailer Release Be Imminent?

Director Colin Trevorrow confirmed earlier this week that his highly-anticipated dinosaur sequel, Jurassic World: Dominion, has officially wrapped post-production. Could a trailer release be imminent?

Almost exactly a year after it wrapped filming, Universal's Jurassic World: Dominion has officially completed post-production - seven months before its hotly-awaited June release date.

Director Colin Trevorrow shared the news on Instagram earlier this week, after presumably watching a final cut of the film at Skywalker Sound with the proper sound mix installed.

While some have already been able to preview exciting footage from the film via a five-minute prologue set 65 million years in the past which played before IMAX screenings of F9: The Fast Saga over the summer, it's now fair to wonder when we'll be treated to a proper trailer for one of 2022's biggest blockbusters.

Considering the original Jurassic World debuted its first trailer on Thanksgiving in 2014 and Fallen Kingdom launched its teaser trailer the first week of December in 2017, it's probably safe to say that the first Dominion trailer should arrive sometime within the next few weeks, possibly even before the end of the month if the studio decides to do another Thanksgiving drop during the Thursday night football game.

Either way, it should be with us before Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on December 17, as that Sony/Marvel title will very likely serve as the most ideal launching pad for a number of 2022's biggest trailers.

The star-studded cast of Dominion will feature Jurassic alums Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), 3x Golden Globe-nominee Sam Neill (Alan Grant), Academy Award-winner Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Academy Award-nominee Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), Jake Johnson (Lowery Cruthers), Omar Sy (Barry Sembane), Justice Smith (Franklin Webb), Daniella Pineda (Zia Rodriguez), Isabella Sermon (Maisie Lockwood), and BD Wong (Dr. Henry Wu).

Newcomers to the franchise include Mamoudou Athie (Sorry for Your Loss), DeWanda Wise (She's Gotta Have It), Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and Scott Haze (Venom). Details on their roles are currently being kept under wraps. Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man) has also joined the cast as Dodgson.

Jurassic World: Dominion is slated to roar into theaters June 10, 2022.

Completely forgot about this movie tbh. I’m down for it, unlike many I enjoyed Fallen Kingdom overall so I’ll probably like whatever this is

@Ha1frican - I didn't like the latter half of Fallen kingdom but I'm also curious about this one. I want to see the OG trio reunited with the new characters :)

The sneak preview that was released looked pretty good to me, can we have at least one legit good movie in the world trilogy please?

If you have never watched “daddy and them” story Laura Dern and Billy Bob Thorton, get on it. It’s like a trailer trash Napoleon dynamite. You should also try “Agua donkeys” on Roku, it’s a… pool boy/knee boarder… Napoleon dynamite. I really wish Napoleon dynamite would become a genre as successors Groundhog Day has. Love both those movies, GOATS that their imitators can’t duplicate.

This franchise stopped being good about 4 movies ago. I'm sure this trend is going to turn around with this one.

I've never been sure why they've tried to turn this into a franchise, other than the obvious Almighty Dollar. Five movies later, there's only ONE film in the series that's good imo, and it's the first one.
But, much like Terminator, Alien, Predator, etc, they just keep going back to the well, with diminishing returns.

Hey, remember when the second jurassic world movie heavily advertised the return of Ian Malcolm, then he was only in one scene, the entirety of which was in the trailers? Yeah, I'm so sure they won't do that a second time.

Arthorious - 11/11/2021, 12:14 PM
Unpopular opinion but I’d say the Lost World of Jurassic Park was the second best film in the series.

1. Jurassic Park
2. Lost World
3. Jurassic World
4. JP III
5. Fallen Kingdom

Honestly those last two flip for me ever so often

LSHF - 11/11/2021, 1:23 PM
@Arthorious - Past the first one, I can't decide because it depends upon:

1) How much real science is being used (like Owen NOT burning when the lava is right next to him),

2) How unrealistically stupid are the decisions made in the films,

3) How good is the action

4) How good are the characters

and a few other elements that, keep the rest of the films bouncing up and down on my possible favorites list. Sometimes I hate seeing how bad one of the above listed elements are and the film takes a nose dive, but other times the good parts are so good, it climbs up the list.

It just varies too much. There are so many elements in the rest of the films that are either way bad and way good.

The last movie went full retard. In some ways I’m curious how big and dumb this franchise can continue to go. However the original is a classic and one of Spielberg’s best films, which is saying a lot.

@MrDandy - There’s still that ridiculous human-dinosaur hybrid storyline they toyed around going with for a while.

They're waiting for either the Camp Cretaceous premiere or after that, another reason why they delayed this upcoming season. So anywhere from then to February lol

Not too sure, I love them being back but Colin Trevorrow and his Jurrasic World franchise has been disappointing. I thought Jurrasic World was gonna be amazing and I ended up not liking the film at all. My expectations were lower for Fallen Kingdom but I liked that one a little bit more.

"Could A Trailer Release Be Imminent?"

I don't know. Why do you guys keep asking us these questions that we don't know the answers to?

But, to try to answer your question; "If" a trailer is prepared and the studio is ready to issue one, then "Yes", a trailer release "could" be imminent. But, if not, then, "No." And we don't have the information required to answer your question.

And, "yes", is suspect your question is somewhat rhetorical, and is a type of question commonly used in these forums, but it seems like cheap journalism tactics, and disrespects the higher goals of real journalism. And I believe that higher journalism standards should be used everywhere; including comic book movie web sites.
