RUMOR: Massive ALIEN: COVENANT SPOILER Relating To Katherine Waterston's Character
Some interesting details on Katherine Waterson's character in Ridley Scott's Prometheus follow-up may have been unearthed. It's just a rumor, but potentially big SPOILERS!
We had heard that the character played by Inherent Vice actress Katherine Waterson in Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant was going to be the captain of the new team of space-explorers, and go by the name Daniels. Now, while that may still be the case, a new rumor suggests that Miss Daniels will have a very close relationship to a franchise mainstay that fans will be very familiar with.
The Playlist has heard that Waterson will actually be playing Ellen Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) mother. If true, it's an incredibly on-the-nose and obvious way to link this film to the originals, and something tells me it may not go down too well with most fans. After all, Prometheus only had tenuous ties to the Alien movies, and despite the movie's many other problems, that, at least, worked out pretty well.
There's always the chance this isn't true of course, but if it does turn out to be on the level, what would you think? Alien: Covenant opens on August 4, 2017.
