Coming off her critically acclaimed and SAG/Golden Globe nominated turn as Maeve in HBO's Westworld, Variety reports that Thandie Newton is in negotiations to join the upcoming Han Solo spinoff in an undisclosed role. This follows the news that Fleabag actress Pheobe Waller-Bridge has also signed on to play a filly CG character, who is actually said to be the franchise's first female droid.

Newton shot to fame after a brief appearance in Interview with The Vampire, and has since appeared in the likes of Crash, The Pursuit of Happyness, and Run Fatboy Run.

The still untitled Han Solo movie recently commenced production and is set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018. The film will also star Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke and Alden Ehrenreich as the budding space smuggler of the title.

I was apprehensive about the idea of a Han Solo spin-off at first, but after R1 I'm convinced they could make it great.

@TheBeard - How dare you, you bastard... just kidding I liked it alot. Like stranger things it is a bit overrated, but I still enjoyed it. What didn't you like about it?

@TheBeard - Come on. It was definitely good. It may be a remake but one of the better ones

@CurlyBill - It reminded me of Cowboys vs Aliens.

@TheBeard - I tried watching the first episode. Just wasn't that much into it. Guess I didn't give it much of a chance after that one.

@TheBeard - You say that, but I actually enjoyed Cowboys and Aliens a lot more than HBO's WESTWORLD.

@SuperCat -

You should really watch it if you're a scifi fan. Westworld is one of the best shows ever. There's a lot more to it than you would think.

@E4Nigma - Thanks, man. I've heard it's pretty good. I think the episodes are still on Demand. I'll give episode 2 a try on Sunday.

@SuperCat -

No problem. I didn't care too much for the first episode either until everything started to connect and make sense. Westworld's main inspiration is Blade Runner. If you like that, then you'll probably like the show.

I like the idea of a Han Solo spin off but I wish they would have done something like it being Han Solo's older brother.

Like Han was always this dweeb and he admired his older brother and modeled himself on him after his brothers heroic death.

It just feels a little off with someone playing the character who is only seven years younger than Ford was when he played it in the main films.

After yesterday's announcement, I love Star Wars. I'm sure this will be a masterpiece just like the other 8.
