Based on comments from the cast,
Alien: Covenant won’t be a joyride. A few months ago, director
Ridley Scott revealed that the upcoming film will receive “a pretty hard R” rating, and a scene that’s "much worse" than the vicious chestbuster sequence from
Alien. On top of that,
Danny McBride (
Pineapple Express,
This Is the End), a few weeks ago, said that the upcoming film is a “dark horror movie,” that has no comic relief at all.
Now,
Michael Fassbender is the latest member of the cast to assure the film’s scariness. In a recent interview with
Collider, the 39 year old actor promised that the 2017 film will frighten a lot of people.
“This Alien is going to be...I’m very excited to see it and everybody in the film was saying this is a film that we all want to see. It’s much scarier than Prometheus but it’s got the same sort of scope of Prometheus.” He then added,
“It’s kind of got more of the sort of thriller, imminent disaster feel that Alien had, so it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. I’m really excited to see it, I think it’s gonna be super scary number one and then again with the massive scope of Prometheus...Once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it doesn’t let up. It’s really gonna bring chills to the cinema.”
Michael Fassbender appeared in
Prometheus as the android David, and even though his role in the film was more on the lines of a scientist and/or researcher,
Alien: Covenant could feature a much different personality for the Synthetic. The official

“whose sole inhabitant is David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”
Fassbender’s character was often paired with
Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw in Ridley Scott’s 2012 sci-fi film. Even though we weren’t quite sure if she’d reprise her role in the movie, Scott - in an interview a few months ago - revealed that she will indeed return, however, her role will be a minor one. Maybe the scene that showcases Shaw’s fate will be the scene to outdo the classic
Alien chestbuster scene. If not that, there’s a good chance it’ll be a terryfying scene featuring members of the Covenant crew.
