Jeff Lemire On Whether He'd Prefer SWEET TOOTH As A Television Show Or Movie

Jeff Lemire's Sweet Tooth recently ended its run for Vertigo at 40 issues and the permeable sci-fi writer (seriously, he's everywhere) Damon Lindelof has an extensive interview with the creator where the above subject was broached.

Jeff answers the title question.
Lemire: It's a tricky question, and I'll try to answer it in a way that won't get me in trouble with DC, but when you do a book for Vertigo, the contracts get kind of complicated. Warner Bros. controls the properties more than a book that I might have done for, let's say, Top Shelf. So in terms of being optioned, it's a lot harder for that to happen because of Vertigo's contracts than I would like, maybe. There's a lot of interest, but it's very complicated so it hasn't been optioned yet.

But yes, I would love to see it adapted. I think maybe more as a movie than a TV show. I think it could be really boiled down to the original idea I had, which was that the first 10 or 11 issues of the series could almost be the whole movie or the whole series. Everything else could be cut out. I just don't have the luxury of sitting around and thinking about that happening because it's out of my control, really.

Damon says he knows some people that can get the ball rolling at WB [jokingly].
Lemire: [Laughs] That would be great. Have you seen "The Grey" with Liam Neeson? After seeing that, I can't imagine anyone else playing Jepperd except for Liam Neeson now.

There's a TON more (seriously, the interview was so lengthy it had to be broken into two pieces) over at CBR so click the source link below to read the full transcript. Any Sweet Tooth fans out there? Do you agree with Jeff and want to see a Sweet Tooth movie over a television show?
Sweet Tooth is an American comic book ongoing series written and drawn by Canadian Jeff Lemire and published by DC comics' Vertigo imprint. Dubbed by some as "Mad Max meets Bambi", it takes place in a mostly rural post-apocalyptic setting where some creatures are human/animal hybrids.

I've been reading Sweet Tooth since its inception in trade. Really got the ball rolling for me with Jeff Lemire. Just remake the Road and give the kid deer antlers.

The way Lemire draws him, I always imagined Jepperd as sort of a badass Leslie Nielsen.

Liam Neeson would definitely work for me.

I like the idea personally. I think you can look to the success of The Walking Dead in the TV arena and project a reasonable possibility of this catching onto the small screen as well... They can really take the time to develop the characters and their respective back stories. They would be able to delve into the mythos of the hybrids as well.

I would like to see Thomas Jane play Jepperd also..
