Don't Expect Any Feathered Dinosaurs To Appear In JURASSIC PARK 4

In what is sure to be the relief of many fans, director Colin Trevorrow has taken to his Twitter account to confirm that his upcoming sequel Jurassic Park 4 will NOT feature any feathered dinosaurs.

Among the many worries from fans for Universal's Jurassic Park 4 was the possibility that we could see dinosaurs covered in feathers, as opposed to dinos in their classic form. The last installment in the series, 2001's Jurassic Park III, featured velociraptors with feathers. However, Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow, who was recently hired to helm Jurassic Park 4, has taken to his Twitter account to confirm that there will be "no feathers" in the sequel. Trevorrow was reportedly chosen due to his love of the original trilogy and knowing how the world works. Are you happy with the decision to not include feathers?




Jurassic Park 4 has a script written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes), with Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley on board as producers. With production rumored to begin late spring/early summer, the fourquel is slated for a June 13th, 2014 release.

NOOOOO!!!!! I really wanted to see a feathered t rex!! Maybe well see sime mutant or hybrid dinos! I gave high hopes with this movie the screenwritters are awesome!!!

This new movie would want to have a one hell of a plot to justify its existence or its a massive cash-in. Same goes for Pirates 5

I dont really understand the need for either

But I REALLY hope the plot of the two of them will prove me wrong

Velociraptors were actually about 3 feet tall and covered in feathers. In fact, almost all dinosaurs were covered in feathers because they are the predecessors of modern birds. Jurassic Park was never really about scientific accuracy to begin with.

That is strange, since science in recent times actually confirmed feathers to be much more common than previously thought.

Jurassic Park 1 was "early" on the dinosaur -> bird theory. An accepted theory today. Why should not the 4th film be just as bold.

here's why I think JP dino do not have feathers, but the Jurrasic parc dinosaurs are not "pure" clones. their DNA have been changed, toad dna to fill in the gaps and the like. This meant no feathers

Well, the theme of the original book had a lot to do with birds evolving from dinosaurs so I have no issue with feathers.

I've always looked at the Jurassic Park movies this way: The film's dinosaurs weren't meant to be exact representations of real dinosaurs. They were engineered by Hammond to be what people wanted to see, and giant birds weren't that. Alan Grant said it best in the third film, he calls Hammond and InGen's creations at Jurassic Park and on Isla Sorna "genetically-engineered theme park monsters," meaning they made them to be more of an idealized species and I assume that, in keeping with continuity, they are sticking with that idea for the fourth film.

@Alfredo27 That's how science works it betters itself when new EVIDENCE is provided. but when it comes to birds its is pretty much confirmed with loads of evidence that birds ARE dinosaurs. and NO WHERE is anyone saying that all dinosaurs evolved into birds. maybe you should study or pick up a book? your ignorance of science and evolution baffles me. Birds evolved from maybe a few dinosaurs main one being small raptors. and yes lots of dinosaurs had what is called PROTO FEATHERS. that doesn't mean they evolved into birds. proto feathers were common in those times. and some raptors evolved those proto feathers into flight feathers. please inform yourself before you spew any ignorance. This movie should have feathers because its reality and its what happened. its like making a movie about hitler with out JEWS in it.

The beauty of Jurassic park is to witness these creatures that once existed. the way they really were. that's how it plays out in the book. that's what makes it so fascinating. it wasn't ment to be a scary monster movie. it was ment to see what it would be like if they existed today in their natural forms and how they would react with humans around. they are powerful creatures even with proto feathers they would be [frick]ing scary. probably even more scary. small rapotors were covered in feathers, but bigger therapods could have had some proto feathers because we know some of them were covered in scales because there are dinosaur skin fossils. so to say all dinosaurs had feathers is wrong. give the correct dinosaurs their feathers. make the movie realistic.

it would be very easy to add feathers. they could arrive in the island and realize evolution working even tho the raptors were engineered. they are evolving. that would be killer.

I'm with ya man. Science is constantly changing and disproving itself. Everyone jumps on with the latest theory to claim it as truth, only to be disproven a few years later. I'm all about advances in modern science, medicine, and technology, but those that are so pretentious about these prehistoric "theories" bug me.

According to bird experts no dinosaur ever had feathers.
Some dinosaurs have been found with the remains of collagen fibers which can look like feathers. Likewise some flightless birds which naturally have feathers have been misinterpreted by paleontologists as feathered dinosaurs.
So dinosaurs had scales and no feathers.

Yep. In 10 years, people will be saying that dinosaurs actually created fire. I have nothing against science. My gripe is with those who take things as "fact" to only be proven wrong later down the line.

I remember reading my grandfather's old science books and the amount of rubbish in books from the 1930s is incredible.
In the 1970s we were warned of a new ice age, now we are warned about global warming.
In 30 years time people will laugh at feathered dinosaurs.
Just ask Doctor Storrs Olsen and Doctor Alan Feduccia.
