Variety is reporting that
She's Gotta Have It star DeWanda Wise has joined the cast of Universal's highly anticipated
Jurassic World sequel in a leading role. Further details on her character are currently unavailable.
Her addition to the ensemble cast comes less than a day after Mamoudou Athie (
Sorry for Your Loss) was
confirmed for a lead role just yesterday. The pair now join headliners Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), Sam Neill (Alan Grant), Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler) and Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), who are all reprising their roles from prior Jurassic adventures.
Isabella Sermon (Maisie Lockwood) and BD Wong (Henry Wu) are also rumored to appear, but have yet-to-be confirmed.
Colin Trevorrow (
Jurassic World;
Safety Not Guaranteed) is helming the threequel with a screenplay he co-wrote alongside Emily Carmichael (
Battle at Big Rock;
Pacific Rim: Uprising). Pre-production is currently underway and principal photography was recently confirmed to begin in February 2020 in London.
Jurassic World 3 hits theaters June 11, 2021.
