The antics of Max Cloud are wild enough that the original title of the film was meant to be The Intergalactic Adventures of Max Cloud. Playing the title character in the video-game style excursion is a martial artist and actor Scott Adkins (Doctor Strange, X-Men Origins: Wolverine).
Rounding out the talented cast includes the likes of Franz Drameh (Legends of Tomorrow), Tommy Flanagan (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2), John Hannah (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), and more. Elliot Langridge also leads the cast alongside Adkins. However, his character is admittedly not as much of a hero, so when a teenage gamer girl winds up in his body instead of the title character, she is disappointed, to say the least.
We previously spoke with Scott about his role in the movie. Still, we wanted to chat with Elliot about what it was like playing two different roles inhabiting the same character and looking in the same film, which made for an interesting chat.
"To her dismay, she isn't Max Cloud, and she becomes me, and she's gutted about it. So, without giving too much away, she embodies me and is very disappointed by that. And then she runs around, and she knows what's going on with the computer game. She knows what she's doing up to a point, and then when she gets to the point of the game that she hasn't gotten to before, she starts panicking, and then that's where the other characters come in and help her. It was really fun, and it's not very often that a part like this comes along where a director's got the faith in you to pull it off. It was very nice to get the opportunity to play this kind of character because it really is a rare thing. I really enjoyed that.
They cast the character very late on. But if I'd been able to know that Izzy was playing the person coming into my body, I would have wanted to work on her mannerisms and get her movement down and everything else. But unfortunately, we'd started filming by the time they cast her because her scenes were shot later. It's such a wicked different character to play; it was really fun to do a bit of comedy as well for a change. It was fun thinking of all the possibilities that she might have acted becoming this male character as a 16-year-old girl, all the possibilities of that, her being totally terrified and meeting her hero Max Cloud. It was just a really fun thing to play with."

When teen gamer Sarah finds an “easter egg” and accidentally opens a portal into her favorite side-scroller, she becomes trapped in a notorious intergalactic prison, home to the galaxy’s most dangerous villains. To escape, she must finish the game with a little help from her not-so-savvy friend on the outside...or remain a 16-bit character forever.
