PACIFIC RIM SYNOPSIS - When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim was directed by Guillermo del Toro, from a script written by Travis Beacham. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke. In theaters July 12, 2013!

I just saw this in 3D last night and I was blown away. Del Toro is a genius and created the best movie of the summer.

Great movie. It's not deep, it's not dark and gritty and doesn't try to be realistic. Also, there isn't a lot of character development but it manages to be incredibly entertaining. Probably the closest we will ever have to an Evangelion movie.Watched it Imax 3d (the 3d could be better but didn't get in the way) and I'll be getting this on blu-ray when it comes out.

Domestic: $52,280,292
+ Foreign: $53,000,000

= Worldwide: $105,280,292

And that's only in one week!

It hasent even opened in Japan yet, which is Kaiju country. They will go nutz for this film.

Ya might want to wait a while before saying something stupid.

This movie really works when the Kaiju and Jaegers are on screen.

When they aren't, you have to deal with some seriously cliched human drama and some severe cases of icantactforcrap outside of Idris.

Good. Because with these pictures you can see what the monsters look like, while during the movie it was just a big visual mess.
2 battles were great but other than that, it was pretty boring... made me want to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion right after though...

I disagree with you..everything was very clear visually. Looked great.
Transformers is the messy scrap heap fights that are cluttered & confusing.
