The preliminary shortlist for the ''Best Visual Effects' category, among others, include the three Disney movies Ant-Man, Avengers: Age Of Ultron and the yet unreleased Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Films such as Mad Max: Fury Road and Jurassic World also made it to the list, alongside the much criticised Terminator Genisys. Last year, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier were both nominated in this category without winning.

The Academy’s Visual Effects Branch Executive Committee will narrow down the list to 10 contenders later this month while the final list will be revealed January 14.
The Oscar ceremonies will he held February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
