Mark Hamill Reveals Why He's Disappointed Disney Hasn't Followed George Lucas' Outline For The Current Trilogy

When Disney purchased Lucasfilm back in 2012, the plan was for the new trilogy to be based on an outline by George Lucas but that quickly changed. Here, Mark Hamill explains why he's disappointed by that.

When Disney purchased Lucasfilm, it was made clear that George Lucas wouldn't have anything to do with the Star Wars franchise moving forward but that his ideas for a new trilogy would be followed. That quickly changed and J.J. Abrams and company instead decided to formulate something entirely new for the franchise which involved both the original cast alongside a trio of younger newcomers.

Now, in a new interview, Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Mark Hamill has revealed that while he's excited about where the current trilogy is going, he wishes Disney had followed the path Lucas envisioned.

"What I wish is that they had been more accepting of his guidance and advice," the actor reveals. "Because he had an outline for [Episodes] VII, VIII and IX. And it is vastly different to what they have done. But then again, I don’t want to be an old stick in the mud. There were the originals. There’s the prequels. But that’s all George. And now we have the next generation. And as far as I can see they are more popular than ever." There's no denying that's the case and Disney made the right choice.

After all, while we don't know what Lucas had planned, the prequels were divisive enough to leave us worried about where he would have taken things next and clearly not even longtime friend and Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy felt comfortable seeing his vision brought to life for a new trilogy...

Jar-Jar should have been the hero of this new trilogy...

Yep, he supposedly did these back in the early 70s I would like to know what the last three were supposed to be. On that note though the prequels were pretty terrible

Regardless of whether you like the new Star Wars films or not, you have to admit that its sad to see Lucas feels betrayed by Disney nowadays.

Lucas ideas for new trilogy was bad though ;P we would have little kids as heroes.

@Omega - We would have "young teens" as heroes. That's fine. The Spider-Man and Harry Potter films proved that could work.

Love his honesty... but the prequels were almost 3/4 trash with dodgy special FX.

@Supercat6376 - I'd say 9/10 dogshit. That 1/10 was basically Ewan McGregor.
