On Sunday, with less than two months to go until Solo: A Star Wars Story, Walt Disney Studios and Lucasfilm finally released the official theatrical trailer for the eagerly-awaited Star Wars entry, and it was extremely well-received as fans got a much better look at the young Han Solo's origin.

2x Academy Award-winner Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind) helmed the upcoming blockbuster, which features a cast headlined by Alden Ehrenreich (Rules Don't Apply) as the young Solo. He's joined by a star-studded supporting cast that includes Woody Harrelson (Venom), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Donald Glover (Atlanta), Thandie Newton (Westworld), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), and Paul Bettany (Avengers: Infinity War), amongst others.

Check out all of the new stills, in full ultra hi-resolution, below:

"You look good." - Back at ya, Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke). The trailer opens with a voiceover from Han's (Alden Ehrenreich) oldest friend as she immediately gets a read on the young Solo's true intentions. While she may look like a far cry from the girl that grew up the streets of Corellia here, the beloved Game of Thrones star has previously described her character as someone that still has plenty to hide. "She has a couple of guises, but essentially she is just fighting to stay alive. If you've got a really glamorous lady in a really sordid environment, you kind of know the glamor is hiding a few rough roads."

Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) reunites with his old friend, Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke), at a location where he looks to be a little underdressed. The pair grew up on the streets of Corellia together and their bond seems to be as strong as ever here, however, the new trailer did seemingly tease that she may be one of the people in his life to ultimately betray him.

"Everything you've heard about me is true." -  Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) is seen here running the table at a shady gambling den. However, he's about to get a worthy opponent - and lifelong friend - when Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) walks through the door and challenges him to a game of Corellian Spike sabacc.

The new trailer gave us our first look at the film's villain, Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany), a crime lord that's going to cause a lot of trouble for young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich). The character was originally played by The Wire star Michael K. Williams but was ultimately recast with Avengers: Infinity War star Paul Bettany when Willaims was unavailable to return for the extensive reshoots.

ARROW

A close-up of L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge). According to a recent Entertainment Weekly article, the droid will be a self-modified droid that belongs to no one. She's essentially a one-of-a-kind droid that routinely assembled and improved herself with scraps from other droids.

ARROW

In an iconic moment, Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) boards the Millenium Falcon for the first time. However, it may be a while before he pilots the ship as we see Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) sit in the driver's seat here with L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) co-piloting.

ARROW

The Millenium Falcon in all its glory. Expect Han Solo's (Alden Ehrenreich) flagship freighter to get a lot of screentime this May as its takes Han, Chewie (Joonas Suotamo) and his gang on the first of a lifetime of otherworldly adventures.

ARROW

Long before Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) was the Baron Administrator of Cloud City, he was one of the best smugglers and gamblers the Star Wars universe has ever known. Here we see him conducting business alongside the droid L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge).

ARROW

Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) takes the Millenium Falcon into hyderdrive with L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) right by his side. While we know the ship will be Han's (Alden Ehrenreich) before the credits roll, we should probably expect Lando to be the primary pilot for a vast majority of this adventure.

ARROW

The Millenium Falcon zips into action and is looking a lot fresher than it does in the latest trilogy of Star Wars movies. It's increasingly likely that the upcoming movie will show one of the franchise's most storied moments as it's expected to reveal exactly how Han (Alden Ehrenreich) won the ship from Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) after a game of sabacc.

ARROW

Here's another stunning shot of the Millenium Falcon that will surely make for a fantastic wallpaper as you await the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story during the coming Memorial Day weekend. However, it's a little uncertain whether the Falcon is still in Lando Calrissian's (Donald Glover) possession at this point in the movie or if Han (Alden Ehrenreich) has taken ownership.

A fantastic shot of The Conveyex on Vandor, which is where we can expect to see one of the film's biggest action sequences take place as Han (Alden Ehrenreich), Chewie (Joonas Suotamo), and company carry out a heist to recover a rare object.

ARROW

Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke), and Chewie (Joonas Suotamo) arrive at a very interesting location on Vandor, the snow planet. Based on the trailer, it's likely this is where young Han either meets or reunites with Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) before the heist on the Conveyex.

ARROW

"I've got a really good feeling about this." - While the film may have had a troubled production, to say the least, it looks like 2x Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard has really brought this project together, going above and beyond to complete the latest chapter in the Star Wars franchise.

The film is all set to debut at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15th and will then premiere worldwide on May 25th, ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.

Here's a hi-res version of the recently released theatrical poster, featuring Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke), Val (Thandie Newton), L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) and Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) front-and-center.

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes. I just want to enjoy star wars again. I don't know what I want from it, I just want to go see star wars and not leave let down.

@hartley07 - By your Kyle Katarn avatar I imagine how much you enjoyed Rogue One... lol

I feel ya, bro. I feel ya.

@Fogs - lol and thats the crazy thing, i was ACTUALLY warming up to rogue one, cause it felt like star wars. And i was like, ok, im an adult, i can handle this, its a fictional story, no big deal. then ep8 dropped and now im a grumpy old troll who rages on star wars at every opportunity. I believe it was inigo montoya who said: "I WANT MY EU BACK, YOU SON OF A BITCH"

All I can do now is suffer through every star wars film, hoping that some director throws me a bone, and has an EU character walk by the camera and wave every now and then, just to reassure me that the last 30 years of book reading wasn't a complete waste of my time. And I can't NOT go, because if for some insane reason an EU character shows up on screen and I miss it, I'm gonna flip out.

@hartley07 - Same here. Despite being flawed I liked (and still like) TFA.

RO seemed to be really good. Well, it's pretty but baad.
Ep8 is also very bad, despite some good moments.

I'm also not expecting anything else from SW. It's more bad than good to me, when I rank the films.

Meh. Alden is going to have to REALLY kill it as Han Solo, because he looks absolutely nothing like the character. And using famous faces like Woody Harrelson or Emilia Clarke is going to make it even harder to suspend disbelief.
deadlyClass
deadlyClass - 4/10/2018, 11:33 AM
@Omegacron - alden looks more like a young harrison ford than the large majority of actors. So basically what your saying is that no matter what everyone was [frick]ed cuz nobody will look exactly like harrison ford? And idk whats wrong with getting high profile names, idk how adding woody or emilia affects your ability to suspend disbelief. Its a movie. TFA and TLJ had some pretty prevalent faces. They may not have been huge stars like woody but they had some who were in a lot of stuff. What about Poe? Oscar Isaac is one of the better actors around right now and is in a lot of stuff. Adam driver isnt a huge star but he has been in a lot of stuff. Domhnall gleeson as well. All of them have been in more stuff and are just as big as Emilia Clarke. or how about Max von Sydow, a legend.
Woody harrelson is going to help this movie tremendously

@deadlyClass - Trolls gonna troll. Let them „meh“ as much as they want to. I’m excited for Solo. Will judge for myself when I see it on the Silver Screen and I totally give Alden the chance.
Omegacron
Omegacron - 4/11/2018, 4:01 PM
@deadlyClass - You're using TFA and TLJ to defend your point, and that basically tells me all I need to know. I've been a Star Wars fan for forty years, and those two movies were both awful. This Solo movie might be great, I dunno... but as I said the movie is pretty much going to hinge on Alden's performance.

My wife and I still feel very meh on this. Too soon after TLJ and very unnecessary. The nature of any other spinoffs and their release dates depend entirely on how this performs. If it is not received well financially or critically expect something safe like just one spinoff announced and it’s Obi Wan. If it’s a hit, expect two or three spinoffs announced and they will be riskier like young Yoda in a KOTOR film or something else we can’t predict, like a bounty hunter film (maybe or maybe not Boba Fett, which again, no one wants). But yeah, as I said, no one wants this and it makes me say “who cares about Han running around the Death Star halls, he was in the Matrix on a high speed train and fought a giant space tentacle creature!” Too much waters it down.

Still hoping that other wookie turns out to be Lowbacca, but i cant tell if thats a romantic wookie headbut with a girl, or a friendly bromance headbut with a bro, or a im-gonna-miss-you-to-a-family-member style headbut with a guy or girl. Any confirmation on whether its a guy or girl wookie?

But after all the tribulations of the OT. All the great adventures, the joke is on Disney SJSW. In the past, the issue was 'Han shot first', now the issue is: HAN DIED FIRST!

What a foolish way to kill a character!
