On Sunday, with less than two months to go until Solo: A Star Wars Story, Walt Disney Studios and Lucasfilm finally released the official theatrical trailer for the eagerly-awaited Star Wars entry, and it was extremely well-received as fans got a much better look at the young Han Solo's origin.
2x Academy Award-winner Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind) helmed the upcoming blockbuster, which features a cast headlined by Alden Ehrenreich (Rules Don't Apply) as the young Solo. He's joined by a star-studded supporting cast that includes Woody Harrelson (Venom), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Donald Glover (Atlanta), Thandie Newton (Westworld), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), and Paul Bettany (Avengers: Infinity War), amongst others.

"You look good." - Back at ya, Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke). The trailer opens with a voiceover from Han's (Alden Ehrenreich) oldest friend as she immediately gets a read on the young Solo's true intentions. While she may look like a far cry from the girl that grew up the streets of Corellia here, the beloved Game of Thrones star has previously described her character as someone that still has plenty to hide. "She has a couple of guises, but essentially she is just fighting to stay alive. If you've got a really glamorous lady in a really sordid environment, you kind of know the glamor is hiding a few rough roads."
Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) reunites with his old friend, Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke), at a location where he looks to be a little underdressed. The pair grew up on the streets of Corellia together and their bond seems to be as strong as ever here, however, the new trailer did seemingly tease that she may be one of the people in his life to ultimately betray him.
"Everything you've heard about me is true." - Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) is seen here running the table at a shady gambling den. However, he's about to get a worthy opponent - and lifelong friend - when Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) walks through the door and challenges him to a game of Corellian Spike sabacc.
The new trailer gave us our first look at the film's villain, Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany), a crime lord that's going to cause a lot of trouble for young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich). The character was originally played by The Wire star Michael K. Williams but was ultimately recast with Avengers: Infinity War star Paul Bettany when Willaims was unavailable to return for the extensive reshoots.
A close-up of L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge). According to a recent Entertainment Weekly article, the droid will be a self-modified droid that belongs to no one. She's essentially a one-of-a-kind droid that routinely assembled and improved herself with scraps from other droids.
In an iconic moment, Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) boards the Millenium Falcon for the first time. However, it may be a while before he pilots the ship as we see Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) sit in the driver's seat here with L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) co-piloting.
The Millenium Falcon in all its glory. Expect Han Solo's (Alden Ehrenreich) flagship freighter to get a lot of screentime this May as its takes Han, Chewie (Joonas Suotamo) and his gang on the first of a lifetime of otherworldly adventures.
Long before Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) was the Baron Administrator of Cloud City, he was one of the best smugglers and gamblers the Star Wars universe has ever known. Here we see him conducting business alongside the droid L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge).
Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) takes the Millenium Falcon into hyderdrive with L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) right by his side. While we know the ship will be Han's (Alden Ehrenreich) before the credits roll, we should probably expect Lando to be the primary pilot for a vast majority of this adventure.
The Millenium Falcon zips into action and is looking a lot fresher than it does in the latest trilogy of Star Wars movies. It's increasingly likely that the upcoming movie will show one of the franchise's most storied moments as it's expected to reveal exactly how Han (Alden Ehrenreich) won the ship from Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) after a game of sabacc.
Here's another stunning shot of the Millenium Falcon that will surely make for a fantastic wallpaper as you await the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story during the coming Memorial Day weekend. However, it's a little uncertain whether the Falcon is still in Lando Calrissian's (Donald Glover) possession at this point in the movie or if Han (Alden Ehrenreich) has taken ownership.
A fantastic shot of The Conveyex on Vandor, which is where we can expect to see one of the film's biggest action sequences take place as Han (Alden Ehrenreich), Chewie (Joonas Suotamo), and company carry out a heist to recover a rare object.
Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke), and Chewie (Joonas Suotamo) arrive at a very interesting location on Vandor, the snow planet. Based on the trailer, it's likely this is where young Han either meets or reunites with Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) before the heist on the Conveyex.
"I've got a really good feeling about this." - While the film may have had a troubled production, to say the least, it looks like 2x Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard has really brought this project together, going above and beyond to complete the latest chapter in the Star Wars franchise.
The film is all set to debut at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15th and will then premiere worldwide on May 25th, ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.
Here's a hi-res version of the recently released theatrical poster, featuring Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke), Val (Thandie Newton), L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) and Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) front-and-center.
