'Supreme Leader Snoke' Was Indeed A Hologram In STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

ILM artist Roger Guyett revealed quite a bit about Supreme Leader Snoke from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Not only did he share which president inspired the Supreme Leader's scenes, he also revealed that Snoke was a hologram, not a force ghost as some suspected!

After people laid eyes on Supreme leader Snoke in Star Wars: the Force Awakens, many theories started to developed, regarding the many mysteries of the character. Some suspected that he was Darth Plagueis or Darth Vader. Other thought that Snoke wasn't actually alive, instead he was projecting to Kylo Ren and General Hux as a force ghost! ILM visual effects artists Rogert Guyett spoke on the villain, and revealed many interesting details. For instance, Snoke's scenes were inspired by a president. "Imagine when you’re a kid or whatever, you go up and you stand in front of the Lincoln Memorial. And you see old Lincoln in a huge chair. There’s a certain quality about that. So, that was certainly sort of part of the inspiration for it all."

Later in the interveiw, he then revealed that Snoke was actually a hologram, "But I think, hologram, you know? The idea really in that opening scene is sort of like, ‘What is going on here. Ok, it’s a hologram. Is he really this big?’ OK, once you figure out that it’s a hologram, of course it’s like, ‘Well how big is he?’" Guyett then elaborated, and set in stone that Snoke was indeed a hologram. "At the end of that first scene [with Snoke], it kind of really gives it away, because obviously he disappears, like a classic hologram. But the idea is the holographic technology is really way more advanced than the… we’ve traveled 30 years in time, so you’re seeing a hologram. The thing that I think will be revealed in future movies is more of, you know, you’re probably seeing more of Snoke. Obviously he’s an ongoing character and a lot of those things I think your fans and people on your site or whatever are analyzing, will be discussed. A lot of that stuff will be revealed in the future. But I mean, he is a hologram."

Even though this came across obvious to some, a lot of people formed theories, which have now been debunked. My advice? Wait until 2017 to get all the answers you desperately want to know! What do you think? Share your thoughts below in the comment section!

@AlexdoxA

I thought that too at first, but I give the movie a pass on that because in-universe, Snoke basically IS cgi...since he only appears as a hologram.

Maybe they intentionally made he look fake-ish? I don't know.

Thinking of him as a hologram really helps.

If he looks bad NEXT Episode though, let's riot. :P
