Zack Snyder Spokesperson Denies STAR WARS Spin-Off Report

Despite previously being reported to be developing a Seven Samurai-style Star Wars film that would be outside of the sequel trilogy, a spokesperson for Man Of Steel's Zack Snyder denies that the director is involved with such a project.

Earlier today, we heard an exciting report saying that director Zack Snyder (300, Man Of Steel) is developing a Jedi-centered Star Wars spin-off, which would loosely be based on The Seven Samurai (via Vulture). The film would be one of the many planned films set in the Star Wars universe but not a part of the main sequel trilogy. The prospect of Snyder bringing his unique directorial style to this universe sounded wonderful, but now a spokesperson for the director has denied this report.

While the following shouldn't be that surprising, a rep for Snyder has sent a statement to The Hollywood Reporter denying Vulture's report claiming that he is involved with a Star Wars film. "While he is super flattered because he is a huge fan, Zack is not involved in any way with the new Star Wars. He is currently in post on his two films, Man of Steel and 300: Battle of Artemisia." Snyder is just one of many directors who have been linked to Disney's latest franchise, with the likes of Matthew Vaughn, Jon Favreau and Brad Bird all being rumored for the coveted gig of taking the helm for Episode VII, which is currently targeting a 2015 release.

Keep in mind, just because one of Snyder's reps denied this, doesn't mean that the report is definitely false. It's possible that the director will very well work on a Star Wars movie in the near future, despite his rep saying otherwise. Plus, Vulture has been a reliable source for movie news, so the site probably didn't make this up. Still, stay tuned to CBM for more news on the Star Wars franchise.
