STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Hot Toys Action Figure Reveals Most Detailed Look Yet At Sith Troopers

Hot Toys has released the "Final Product" photos of their Sith Trooper action figures from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and they offer our most detailed look yet at The Emperor's new Stormtroopers...

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will introduce yet another new class of Stormtrooper as we meet the villainous Sith Troopers, a group it's believed will report directly to Emperor Palpatine.

It's hard to say for sure, of course, and their role in the "Skywalker Saga" is currently a mystery (like most of the movie). Either way, they're a formidable looking bunch, and Hot Toys has today unveiled photos of the final version of their figure based on the sinister looking soldiers.

As well as providing our best look yet at their armour, the Sith Trooper's weapons are also highlighted and they look quite a bit more impressive than what the regular First Order Troopers use.

Snoke's guards, Knights of Ren, Sith Troopers...

They'll all amount to nothing.

@Necropolitan - it would be nice, with all the variation they put into the various trooper designs to have a dedicated show about them similar to the Mandalorian... right now there is just a bunch of variation and they all seem to get killed off the same... the uniqueness doesn't really equate to some "great" standout stormtroopers on screen.

Sigh. No matter what color or how niche the stormtrooper happen to be, they're all lame (with the exception of that one stormtrooper from The Force Awakens–the one who fought Finn with that cool melee weapon–he was pretty awesome.

All the rest, no matter the specialization? A waste and little more than cannon fodder (like Captain Phasma or Death Troopers. Why. Bother?).

@WilliamCipher - "Death Troopers" SOUNDS awesome. in action? I don't recall them earning the name. This is one you (I mean that in general, not 'you' personally) can't blame Kathleen Kennedy for. Lucas created them as disposable cannon fodder which becomes a problem when you want to use them as formidable opponents.

You have to SEE that, and we haven't. Whether you call them Deathtroopers, Snowtroopers or whatever, they're all. Quite. Lame.

And that's a pity because I wished they were awesome. Unfortunately, for them to be so you'd actually have to start to give them personalities and motivations, something Star Wars has deliberately neglected to do.

@Kozmik - Funny, I hated that Storm troopers had a baton that could stand up to a light saber. I felt made what is meant to be a weapon that is powerful, due to its connection with owner and its own power, look weak.

The Baton didn’t even look that impressive.

Kozmik - 11/7/2019, 1:07 PM
@WilliamCipher - I'm not sure who's the "they" you're referring to but if you mean stormtroopers then it's a question of numbers, namely they outnumber Rebels. If I take 10 competent Rebels against many times that number of stormtroopers then stormtroopers will win (unless a Skywalker is somehow involved). That's been the dynamic for all the Star Wars movies, and that's not an accident.

@Knightrider - I cared less about the baton–though I thought it was pretty cool looking–than you had a stormtrooper that was actually competent (not a common thing in Star Wars).

@Kozmik - True, it was nice to see a competent Stormtrooper, but it also felt weird these brainwashed, military troops suddenly scream traitor and do hand to hand - that fight really should have been his first fight with Phasma.

@ElJefe - I agree it looks great. But this is Star Wars so people like to make snarky comments to look cool.

Rumour is they only show up in the 2nd act of the film for about 3 minutes to arrest Chewbacca, Lando & Co whilst Rey is distracted battling Kylo on that sand planet we’ve seen (also where Rey jumps over Kylos ship)... so yeah waste of money for an insignificant action figure.

This would be like giving Scott Adkins his own action figure for battling Dr. Strange in the Sanctum Sanctorum for that whole 3 minutes.

This franchise has turned into Schumacher Bat’s level of toy marketing.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - Since the 80s movies and TV have been marketing heavily to toys. Then, that generation grew up and bought even more toys. But I have a feeling the Millennials will burst the collectibles bubble.
Se4M4NSt4ine
Se4M4NSt4ine - 11/7/2019, 2:12 PM
@ElJefe - I’ll elaborate on my point, there was 100s of Batman toys before the Schumacher films. But they in some what connected into the story lines of Batman, which made them popular toys. The same with Star Wars, everything was based on popularity.

Schumachers Batman Toys, were god damn ridiculous because half the time the toys weren’t connected to the film. This was the first time toys started looking like Eastern rip offs all the time. They started making plots up to sell toys, just like they’ve done with this new franchise.
Se4M4NSt4ine
Se4M4NSt4ine - 11/7/2019, 2:17 PM
@Reeds2Much - Star Wars has always sold toys. Lucas bought a share in toys when he sold Disney the contract, because of how much toys they sell, yes.

However, those toys were always connected to some part of the intricate story and sold as an afterthought, because Star Wars can get away with that because of the rich design and methodology behind the aesthetics of the universe. My point is this new universe is trying to sell toys before the story. Just like Schumacher did with Batman. Therefore selling figurines of extras essentially, and forcing them into the plot to sell, it’s not the Star Wars I want to support.

Se4M4NSt4ine - 11/7/2019, 2:18 PM
@Se4M4NSt4ine - also I need to stop blaming Schumacher, because it was essentially Warner forcing his hand.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - However, those toys were always connected to some part of the intricate story

As intricately to the story as the guy who runs across the screen with an ice cream maker?

Can somebody fill me in on what a "Sith" trooper is? If there are only always two Sith, no more, no less, than how are there a shitload of these guys? Or are they not truly Sith and are just there to protect Sith...who of course, shouldn't need protection? Why can't they just call them red cannon fodder Stormtroopers designed to sell more toys? Smh

BestAtWhatIDo - 11/8/2019, 10:50 AM
@Feralwookiee - Nobody knows, bruv. It's rumored they're Palpy's secret shock troops, hidden away since the fall of the Empire. I doubt they have actual force powers, but they seem to serve the Sith, as opposed to the FO.
