Steven Spielberg's READY PLAYER ONE Finds Its 'Art3mis' In Olivia Cooke

Sounds like Steven Spielberg's next directorial venture Ready Player One is moving full steam ahead as the much anticipated film has just found its female lead in Olivia Cooke.

Earlier this afternoon, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Cooke had landed the coveted part of Art3mis, the OASIS avatar of Samantha Evelyn Cook, beating out both Elle Fanning (We Bought A Zoo) and Lola Kirke (Gone Girl). Cooke is now currently in the process of negotiating her contract.

THR adds that Spielberg was hoping to finalize the male lead simultaneously, but unfortunately hasn't been able to come to a decision just yet. It's still uncertain which direction he's leaning, but it should probably be noted that just ten days ago, Nick Robinson (Jurassic World) was rumored to be an early favorite

Cooke is best known for her main role on the A&E drama Bates Motel and recently received much acclaim for her work in the indie drama Me And Earl And The Dying Girl. She will be seen next in another indie drama Katie Says Goodbye and is also a contender for the leading role in Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII

What do you guys think of Cooke's casting? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Mmm... i dunno if I'll give this a look. I think the sci-fi genre is kinda going the way of the westerns.

@Jollem I've only heard good things about that movie. I'll check it out.

On a not unrelated note, I saw "Another Earth" a couple of days ago and really enjoyed it. Very human and grounded movie. I had no expectations and it payed off, as the movie is like 0.001% sci fi and 99.999% drama, which might've rustled some jimmies for the people going into this film expecting a more sci-fi feel.

@Jollem That's fine, I'll just try and masturbate to some nasty porn afterwards to even it out.

How are they going to get the licensing to even make this movie? The robot battle alone.

I first saw her in the dreadful 'The Quiet Ones' earlier this year.
She's a VERY good actress though, and she's complete babe.
