SHANG-CHI Sequel Rumored To Include Time Travel And An Appearance From Iron Fist; Update On SPIDER-MAN 4

It appears Marvel Studios is indeed moving forward with a Shang-Chi sequel and it sounds like it'll be a key entry in the Multiverse Saga. We also have updates on Spider-Man 4 and Shawn Levy's MCU future.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings remains one of Marvel Studios' best Phase 4 movies, and had it not been for the silliness of Trevor and Morris, it may well have gone down as an instant classic in the eyes of fans.

As things stand, it's still an epic martial arts movie which put Simu Liu on the map. Unfortunately, the character has been sidelined ever since and it's now coming up to three years since we last saw Shang-Chi on our screens.

Scooper Daniel Richtman has shared an update today, confirming the current plan is for Shang-Chi 2 - which is rumoured to be titled Shang-Chi and the Wreckage of Time - is set to begin production next year.

He claims that time travel will be involved, as will Iron Fist. There's no word on which version of that character we'll see in the movie, though we'd bet on it not being Finn Jones' Danny Rand (Lin Lie seems far more likely).

"Oh man, I don't know to be honest," Liu recently said of when Shang-Chi is likely to make his MCU return. "I mean, those things are so above my pay grade. I just wanna continue to be a fan of it. You know, when I get a call of like, 'Hey, this is what your in and this is where you're going to show up. And, this is when you're going to be need to be blacked out for.'"

"That's kind of generally what tends to happen. But, you know Destin is such a special filmmaker and we're very happy to have him on the sequel. So, he'll be working on that and we're really excited to see what he comes up with. I think he's going to do a brilliant job."

"There are a lot of ideas that we had in the opener, and some of those ideas are planted as questions, by the end of our movie. There are things that we potentially want to explore in the future," the Barbie star continued. "Everything changes so much, so it’s hard to say how many of those ideas will actually make it to the finish line, but there are many of them there."

In other news, Richtman is also reporting that Kevin Feige has won the battle with Sony Pictures and will now enlist a new director to helm Spider-Man 4 in place of Jon Watts (who he seemingly wants for other MCU projects). We're hearing that Drew Goddard is at the top of the executive's list.

It's also said that Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy is expected to helm more Marvel projects based on how pleased Marvel Studios is with the threequel.

Stay tuned for updates.
