Early Lizard Designs For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

Early Lizard Designs For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

I've come across some more intriguing concept art for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man. Come see early designs focusing on The Lizard and Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) transformation.

I kind of feel bad for Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans). As you know, in The Amazing Spider-Man Connors transforms into The Lizard. And yes he goes about doing terrible things, like killing Gwen's father Captain Stacy (Denis Leary), but let's be honest this is all Peter's (Andrew Garfield) fault. If Peter didn't get all nosy, prying into his father's briefcase, he wouldn't have found the newspaper clipping of his dad with his old colleague Dr. Curt Connors and he wouldn't have found the decay rate algorithm. This then sets off the chain of events that lead Connors to become a Goomba from Super Mario Brothers. Shame on you Peter.

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

I think that the next time he becomes the lizard that his snout will be much larger, to signify his evolution. Just like in the cartoon and comic how the lizard's look continued to evolve the more times he became a lizard

Of course they went with the worst one... Here's a novel concept, why not make him look like the source material?!?! Or at least have him evolve into the classic look with each transformation?? I hate all of this updating/reimagining just for the hell of it, or to make sure the actor's face is still a component of the performance. It's a big lizard! Drop the lab coat if need be but make him look like a big lizard - with a snout.

If they screw up the Rhino I'm making my own costume and goring Marc Webb.

That first pic is kinda cool. If they wanted him to talk, snoutless was the way to go, but it's just too plain looking, especially once they got rid of the lab coat for some reason. So they should have put more into it.

@batz11 actually you're right, I forgot who said it but they said that the snout looked weird for talking.

And I think the third pics face and fourth pics body would've been pretty cool. I didn't mind if the lizard didn't speak. Then again what I thaught would've been a better idea was maybe go the route of making doctor Connors go missing cause he stayed the lizard. And if the lizard look in the movie was the first stage of being the lizard. He could speak at first but slowly changing over time. Growing a snout and everything and big spikes too.. And then in the final act there was a giant mindless lizard destroying the city like the abomination or something and Spider-mans goal was to give him that antidote.

The snoutless look was good. They were paying attention to the source material which was a good thing last I checked.
Lizard's first appearance he had no snout and doubtless he'll return and by then we can have him have the snout. It'll be ok then.

@DrDoom- That would have been awesome. Unfortunately, we have to wait until Sony reboots the franchise again to see it done right.

Webb said he went with the snoutless-look for the lizard because he wanted The Lizard to be capable of emotion re: having Rhys' mo-cap performance to shine through.
I don't buy that. They should of gone with the snout in my opinion and to hell with the detail of The Lizard having to look as expressive as a human face.

@Dr.Doom that's my favorite look for the Lizard...Too bad that couldn't adapt that version. I would have also accepted the 90's cartoon version.
